It was great but i think we will just stick to fun shows, i was petrified :D
She was great though considering she's only been walking on a leash properly outdoors for 2 weeks.
It was a great day for socialising her, she met numerous Dogs, think her favorites are the big Dogs. She got on well with great Dane who lay down so they could play.

  • Wonderful news and great pictures too. I love the one of her eyelashes, such a little lady.

  • She is adorable - she'll grow into that bone she won eventually! LOL - that is huge! :D:D:D Congrats!!!

  • It looks like she was in her element, outside in the warm sun AND showing herself off :) Congrats on her winning 'the big bone'. She should have a lot of fun with that.

  • Hi Shelly,

Congratulations great start! (as I said showing can be fun!) I expect that hide bone will last Malaika a long time!

If you try some Open and Champ shows the grass will be a bit shorter!

  • Well done Shelley and the star Malaika.

It's lovely to see morepictures too, she is growing up!

    Thank you.
She sits on one end of the bone and chews the other. I was disopointed that we didn't get a Rossette though:(
It's a pity thay didn't mow the grass, she kept disopearing in it :D

I've tried bait and no bait in the ring. I think bait works better for Logan, but not for me. He likes it and responds to it well, but as a new handler it's a pain in the butt. I know what I'm expected to do. Doing it once in the ring is hard. I get caught up in the minute and then forget what I'm supposed to do the next. I once stacked Logan backwards on the table. D'oh! Logan is SUPER food driven and he knows if I have cookies in my pocket. That's all he'll pay attention to. Jumping on the handler is frowned upon. Yes, I know training and time will cure it. Not there yet. Too many hobbies. Showing, breeding, MGBs, stereos, astronomy, motorcycles, family, friends, travel, house, etc. I need more time.

@Roux I have to live with the dogs 24/7. The judge sees them for maybe 3 minutes. My preference tops his/hers !

@eeeefarm said in Complete newbie to showing: ... I had a husky/shepherd crossbred that was the same way. Put a muddy dog in the barn at night, open the door to a perfectly clean one in the morning! What the...? Did they wipe themselves with a horse? :face_with_tears_of_joy:

Janneke it would be so cool to come to the german speciality but this summer is all about saving a buffert for the winter as Miss Efia is to be mated in October and if all goes well have some cute puppies in December. Her future beau is a good looking Tri boy AB Push The Envelope he?s half brother to Rafikis Icon Of Cool aka Blade.I think that this will be a good combination they compliment each other really well and both have such sweet natures just waiting for the last health tests.
