I ditto the sentiments above. Although I have not been tremendously active I do appreciate all the valuable information that is shared here in the Forum. I often come here to answers to my questions or concerns about my 2 B's - Dwjaad and Camerou. aka - Jenga and Rudy.
They have both turned 1 years old this month and I am happy to reach this milestone. We passed the year without too much damage to our house and contents when I look at some of the photos on the site. Wow have we been lucky. They are lovely boys who follow me everywhere. Jenga is so fast and it is such joy to see them running through the fields of snow with our german shepard in hot pursuit. They love to play and run in our creek!
I know I will continue to come here to find out more about Basenjis. Thank you everyone and a happy holiday to all.

No our breeder doesn't have a web site. We met at several shows and we are very happy with the temperament of her Dogs. Healthwise i am satisfied that everything is good. The info gained on this forum has been extremely helpful.

I see a few of their dogs on Sally's pedigree site (with Robelroy as the kennel name) which ones did she breed?
-
At this point i dont want to give out info which we feel belongs to the breeder, but of course once the Pup is ours i will be talking non stop about the Pup
-
Hooray, Shelley. I look forward to seeing your baby both in pictures and reality once she's old enough!
-
The Kennel affix is Robelroy.
Dan you will be bored to tears with my pics when i get herOh goodie, can't wait

Good luck on your potential pup… hopefully DNA for Fanconi was done before breeding as there are a few not tested on Sally's site
-
Woohoo!!! Congrats! Maybe I missed it.. But are you getting a male or a female? Can't wait to see the pics!!

The breeder in question is responsible and has tested her dogs for Fanconi.
I look forward to seeing your pics Shelley.

Thank you everyone for your good wishes, we will be able to go see the pups at about 3 weeks but wont be able to pick untill the breeder has picked hers.
We have of course checked that the dogs used in the breeding have been DNA tested for Fanconi. As Gerry has said we have picked a responsible breeder. -
Most responsible breeders are happy to share their litter details so I think it just came across as odd that you would not be able to share the litter details until you brought your puppy home.
-
Only just found this thread, huge congrats Shelley, that is fantastic news!!
I can also say that she has chosen a very respected, responsible breeder. I am benched next to this breeder at almost all the shows and she is certainly very knowledgeable about the breed and is very much in favour of health testing
I also dont think it is odd that Shelley does not want to share the litter details. I was the same with Maya, until she was officially mine i did not want to talk too much about it (didnt want to tempt fate!!), and also if the breeder wants to discuss her breeding im sure she could come on here herself to do it, all the pedigrees and health testing are on the internet for people to see anyway though
-
Congrats Shelley - bet you can't wait! Can't wait to see pics of the new arrival when you have him/her home!
-
Congrats!
Not sure where you're from but we always watch Anderson Cooper on New Years Eve. Maybe you can call him Cooper!

We are getting a bitch, i like Malaika (swahili for Angel), Hubbys not to sure about shouting that out though, the other names are Freya or Milly. We have had other suggestions regarding the birthdate, Eve and Hope.
We are from Preston, Uk, Andrew -

We are from Preston, Uk, AndrewI really like Malaika and Freya. You can always shorten Malaika to Laika

I realy like Malaika but dont know if i'l be able to convince Howard. I also like the name Laika but it reminds me of the terribly sad story of Laika the space dog
