    I'd suggest getting the replacement 3 pack too. I didn't but there is plenty of room in that tree trunk and it could easily fit 3 more in there for added fun!

    Yep! The fun ends too fast with only three. But if you have small stuffed animals already they would work too. But the little squirrels are really cute and they also squeak! :D

    Gossy isn't a stuffing-puller (unlike my two previous beasties) and she likes the biggest plush toys I can find – I brought home a large stuffed tiger I won at the state fair and she is always tring to get at it - I finally had to hide it on the top closet shelf. Generally the small toys she'll ignore.

    All mine have loved the hard rubber toys that hold kibble or other treats (kongs, busy buddies, etc.) and I've also hidden kibble in old torn-up plush toys - the kibble gets stuck in the fabric sometimes and gives them extra work. None of them have ever liked the smooth nyla bones.

    LOVE that toy - am going to DrsFoster&Smith to get one for my girls - they will really like that since they love digging stuff out of other stuff.

    Sunbeams and fallen leaves. Those are the only two constant toys for my kiddies. And they arent really toys

    Ah yes, leaves. Unfortunately Kananga is not a fan of leaves anymore, after walking across a sewer grate that was covered in leaves. He avoids them at all costs now. :D

    Ours do well with treat balls.

    Most toys needs supervision, if you can get them interested in them to begin with (unless its something to be ripped apart).

    Mine like cat toys the best, but need supervision.

    Its a bird, its a plane, no its super basenji!

    I just discovered a new toy/treat the other day at the doggie-care. They sell chunks of elk antlers – and wow did Gossy stick her nose in the bin and try to grab them all. They don't splinter and better than marrow bones in that they don't get gooey.

    Well…. I thought Kongs were indestructible. Actually, this isn't his kong but it's made of the same exact material. Regardless, leave it to a Basenji to figure that one out. (Yes, that's his slobber on it :D )

    I put a dab of butter inside his actual kong. His eyes lit up as soon as he caught the scent of the butter. He's too comical…. :D

    She's gorgeous - Probably Basenji in there somewhere, yes, Beagle though ? only the colouring might suggest it. Try a DNA test if it really matters !

My dog doesnt care if its 100 degrees out or 10, she needs constant exercise. If outside exercise isn't available for whatever reason, mental exercise is a good substitute. Basenjis are very clever and if you keep their minds busy it often serves to minimize or avoid destructive behaviour. You are not going to wear a fit Basenji out by walking him or her a couple of hours a day, but I have seen them perfectly content to kick back and relax after half an hour of demanding mental exercise! Clicker training can be useful here.....

    Kaiser doesn't really have any except his game of steal the humans clothes or whatever mum forgets and leaves in his reach, I know he has something because of the wooden floors as I can hear his prancing around sound, does love his kong ball which has a hole in it which I stuff with freeze dried tripe which when he can't be bothered getting it out plays " here human get it out for me" and bugs us with it until we relent, bugging the cat is a game he likes but doesn't last long as the cat has other ideas.     The B I am fostering came with a de-stuffed…um...thing (I really couldn't tell you what it once was). When she doesn't get her way she will BAROOOOOO at us as loud as she can and then grab the stuffy and shake, shake, shake it and throw it in our general direction. If she could say "so there', I know she would.

    Hi yul, Welcome to Basenji Forums! There is no dog breed that is truly non-allergenic (not allergy causing) because all dogs produce dander (shed skin cells), saliva, and urine. You can be allergic to the dog dander, dog saliva, or both. Urine is less of a problem since dogs usually potty outside. Pet hair itself is not an allergen, but it can collect dander, dust, and pollen. To answer the question about shedding, Basenjis do shed, but its not as much as some other breeds and they keep themselves very clean with their own grooming methods. Their coats are so short, though, with you'll hardly notice if they shed. Basenjis are known to supposedly produce less dander than other breeds, and many people who are mildly allergic to dogs can tolerate some of these "low dander" dog breeds with proper environmental controls. Be careful though, as there are no guarantees. People's pet allergies vary greatly. Severe pet allergy sufferers may not tolerate any dogs at all, even with the best environmental controls.
