@debradownsouth Thank you for the kind words but I have to admit... I take young adults for my own convenience. I simply don't have time, stamina or energy to deal with the pups as adorable as they are. Having a puppy is like having a baby or too! Did I mention I was not into children and babies or can you guess?lol. I love the retirees. they are already used to crates (although Ollie is now somewhat recalcitrant about getting into hers because she would rather hang out with her now "Mom", lol!! They travel well. They are usually somewhat used to people. Ollie is not used to playing by herself and is just getting used to "big" breeds. She doesn't get the commands "sit, down or stay" yet but we are working on it. She is the champ of the "heel" command however!!

My husband and I currently live here in England, we currently do not own a Basenji, but we did have our loveable "Prancer" for 14 (human)years before she passed on. She was the best dog we ever could have imagined. It has been a few years since she left us and we would like to find a new friend to join our family. Any help on where we could get information would be appreciated, it could be a rescue. No other breed has ever compared to the Basenji.

Welcome! Time for a new Basenji. I just got a tri rescue last week. I have had 3 others before that so losing a great friend is very difficult.

Welcome to the forum. I too understand how hard it is to loose a pet, we just lost one in march and one four weeks later in april. We are new to Basenjis but thoroughly enjoy our Otis. Again, welcome onboard.

Read all you can about Basenji but if your ready for a FAMILY member your looking in the right place. We are also farily new to the forum and the basenji. We got Jaycee in March. Been mostly fun but I have two say there have been those times but then she will look at you or lay down on your lay and all is good and gone. Let's know what you do or get.

Welcome to the forum!

Welcome! We just re-entered the fray after a year and a half without Basenjis. Best move we ever made;) They kinda worm their way into our hearts. There are some other folks here from the UK who can probably give you practical advice on where to find your new family member.

Belated welcome, I have not been on for a couple of days.
Currently there are no Basenjis in UK Rescue but if you're keen it might be worth putting your name down - they can turn up there at any time and previous Basenji owners are always welcome.
