    It is all the way on the bottom, I was looking to buy it myself and found it below all of the membership information, it was the last thing you could purchase.

    Ah ok must have missed it thanks! I just bought the book Basenji: Complete… ect at borders the guy didn't even know what a basenji was! Haha

    If you don't mind my asking (and absolutely no offense meant) - why is your mom so hot on doing the training (whether she does it herself or she takes the pup to class)? You've done a lot of homework on the bred but how informed is your mother about basenjis?

    It's been my humble experience that the person doing the training/socialization with the dog (whatever breed) forms a bond with that dog. Are you living at home and so your mom wants to have control of the situation when you're not around? If this is your dog, you need to have the primary bond with it.

    We took Dash to Animal Care Unlimited for puppy socialization. It was inexpensive and worth it! Personally, I think the puppy socializtion classes are THE MOST important class you can take you dog to. Not to mention you get to see so many other pups. Probably not B's in this are though. You are always welcome to bring the pup over to our house for play time. Our Dash loves friends. We are on the north end of Columbus. are you far? You can PM me privately if you are interested.

    Oh God, I remember the first time I read this, way back in 1999, when this was a listserv. I printed it off, so I could show it to people. I have it saved and still laugh uncontrollably when I read it! Thank god there are no elk in Iowa. It's hard enough to wrestle a piece of pizza away from my two, let alone a carcass.

    If the dogs are having similar symptoms as in the previous years, they need to be treated ASAP! It is my understanding that many are developing the acquired Fanconi Syndrome and need to be put on the protocol. Many vets though do not have the equipment to do the venous blood gas test and get an accurate diagnosis. Emergency vets should have the equipment. Do not buy any dog treats that come from China and if the package does not state where it is from then do not buy it! Jennifer

    I think I know!!! I think it's Dutch - Abotere's Zahir for Hicel. Oh dear, I speak to this dog at every show :o

    Yes I agree Pat, Fort Funston could get very crowded and dangerous for smaller dogs as packs of bigger dogs playing could cause injury. My 2 Basenjis were very good and stayed pretty close to me and got used to the crowds. The only problem I had there was with this lady who had an older Tri color female Basenji. It would bite my blk/wht, Nika who was 1-1/2 on the butt. A few times of that and I stayed way away from her. The problem is Nika was a very playful girl and never did anything like that. A few times of getting nipped on the butt started her doing it to other dogs and Basenjis. A Basenji would want to play and Nika would chase and give a nip and the the other dog would get mad and a fight would occur. Nobody would ever get hurt thankfully. It was rare that it would happen as I took them there for 9 years, mostly on the weekend without problem. We had a lot of fun and people loved the Basenjis! Ringo, the red/wht was a very entertaining clown when we'd go down to the beach.

    Hi there. At the moment I have a little girl. I'm considering getting her a brother or sister. There's no doubt I would go for another Basenji. Problem is, I don't want a new dog to teach her bad habits. My girl doesn' t know she can jump the back fence. She doesn't dig holes in the back lawn, only in the garden beds, which I 'm pretty sure she's running out of room to bury her treats. And she can be pretty smart when she wants to. Do I risk bringing a puppy into the family and my girl picking up bad puppy habits?
