Future Puppy Pictures

  • Hi All,

I finally have pictures from the breeder so I thought I would share (since everyone loves puppy pictures). I will hopefully be getting a female puppy from Joy-Us Basenjis sometime in February. The parents of the litter are below. I've met Penny and she is a great courser, which I hope rubs off on her babies. :D

CH Serengeti Joy-Us Pennyroyal "Penny" x CH Jerlin-SS General Powell

Five puppies were born on Tuesday, all black and white, 3 girls and 2 boys. Unfortunately, one of the boys did not make it.

I have pictures of the four remaining puppies, along with the individuals of the 3 girls. I love Girl 3's mohawk-like stripe…very cute. Enjoy!

  • Thanks for sharing! I can imagine your excitement, how cool! Lovely little babies, please keep sending us updates. :) It's been a while since we've seen Sue and I haven't seen Penny on the field yet, but from the results she sure has done well. And I've drooled over some lovely Pow babies myself, wish I could sneak one too! :) I bet you'll have tons of fun with your new little girl.

  • Georgeous pups, I like them all!

  • I agree with you on pup 3… that stripe does resemble a mohawk & it is so adorable!

  • Aah.. Very cute! I would go for girl 3 as well!!! :D

  • Dallas, my boy, comes from the Serengeti line! Midge has great dogs & has been a great resource for me since I entered the basenji world :) I'm sure her pups will not disappoint!

  • I have a Powell daughter - awsome little girl! I hope yours is just as nice.

  • Those should be very nice puppies! Congrats and good luck!

  • Coongrats…. lovely pups..

I'll take number one... she has the white marks just like chafuko... in his neck exactly half!

Yes, I am very excited. The wait is going to be torture! Depending on the particular girl I end up with, I am seriously considering trying out showing (in addition to coursing) and seeing if both the girl and I actually like it or not. I can only have two dogs at a time in the town where I live, so this is my only chance to try it for another 10+ years (hopefully).

  • I hear you - I can only have 2 as well - when all my dogs were R&W not a problem - folks just think the dogs are indecisive - in and out - in and out. The black and White and tri are a bit of a problem and the big Podengo - oh well - I guess I can't count.

Be sure to extend my greetings to Sue as well - been a long time since I've seen her.

  • I have a few new puppy pictures from Christmas Day.

    girl 2, girl 1, boy, girl 3

Same order, extra cute because girl 2 and girl 3 are on their backs showing their fat little bellies.

Close-up of girl 3. She looks like she is making herself comfortable. :)

    Enjoy!

  • LOVE the new pics. That last picture is adorable…she looks so content & comfy!

  • Pretty babies! I do so love the black and whites!

  • Pictures from a week ago. I'm going to visit the puppies this weekend. Can't wait!

Not exactly sure who is who, except for Girl #3 (mohawk girl) but I have my guesses. I wish her mohawk wasn't shrinking, it was so cute.

    Girl 1 or Girl 2? (I think Girl 2)

Girl 3 (mohawk girl). I wish her mohawk wasn't shrinking but she's just as cute regardless.

    Girl 1 or Girl 2? (I think Girl 1)

    Boy (I think)

Note: Not sure why they are so big. I resized them even and they aren't changing.

  • I like girl three, her Mohawk is still cute and she has perfect "stockings" on her front legs. And the boy has beautiful face markings, very symmetrical. Of course, I love them all… :D

  • thanks for that puppy fix!

It looks like Girl 3 has a nice collar too. I'm really curious to see how they all turn out.

  • What super cute faces! Thanks for sharing!

  • They are all so adorable! Enjoy your visit & keep the pictures coming! :)

@McCannClan: What an adorable girl! I love those wrinkles and she actually poses for you. I cannot get my new girl to sit still long enough for that… I think Faro is a bad influence on her. Your Athena is beautiful. Hoping you have many fun filled loving days with her. Thank you! It amazes me. She always sits still or stops moving when I'm pointing my camera/phone at her. It's like she knows. Every day since I got her has been fun! @DebraDownSouth: What a cutie! In a couple, it shows the white of one eye and I was going to ask if she has a "lazy eye", but then I looked back at the baby ones… nope, just your camera angle and her looking at you a bit from side. Cara has an absolute lazy eye, btw.. so you know why I was looking! I envy you that cute baby stage. OMG wouldn't it be wonderful if you could keep them like that. Give that wrinkly face a kiss for me. Sigh. Thank you! At times it does look like she has a slight lazy eye but mostly it's the camera angle and the way her head is. Don't worry, I give her many hugs & kisses everyday! this is my favorite picture I've taken thus far. [image: IMG00470-20110329-2131.jpg]

@weeziesmom: I have tried chew bones to curb his chewing however he tries to take weezies and they fight over them You can teach him to leave hers alone. Make them both sit for their chew; give hers first and make him stay with you when she dashes off to chew. {helps him see that she gets one/he gets one, and also gives her a head start!} Make sure he knows you have one for him also. He must sit and make eye contact with you before he is given his treat. Once they both have a chew, make them stay in different spots. Stand between them, moving your body silently to block his attempts to get to her. If necessary, tell him "no" or "leave it". It shouldn't take long for him to learn that he gets his and she gets hers. Eventually, he will just look when you hand her the treat and will sit and stare at your face until he gets his own, then he'll run to his own spot to chew his bone.

I held all three and don't remember any of them squirming. So you should be good! I'll definitely have to come up there now. I'm excited! :)

Now that's different. I too, have only seen human sonograms. How interesting. Looking forward to seeing the pup(s) upon arrival.
