What an interesting dog!
3 New Collars
-
I didn't want to hijack the other thread, and meant to post this sooner, but the weather and camera haven't been cooperating, so I have some pics from my iPhone.
I bought a new collar and lead about a month ago for Aaliyah when I was at a dog show (kind of a birthday present for her 1st b'day). We stopped at a booth (Bolduc Custom Leather) that my kids' breeders love and I found the most amazing martingale collar. All hand stamped/tooled. Beautiful bridle leather that one month in is already super soft and is only getting better. They measure about 2inches (measured it and I was wrong - it is 2" NOT 3") at the widest part at center and taper to about an inch.
The lead itself is amazing (super soft) - 6ft, but with the martingale design it has about another foot before the clip so about 7ft - feels like I'm walking her with horse reins. I since ordered a 4ft for use from the house to the yard - perfect when a long one is too much.
Liyah's collar:
So, I liked the collar so much that I ordered 1 for Ruby & 1 for Brando for Christmas (and 2 more 6ft leads, and 2 more 4ft leads :D). Evidently the stamped collars are a new item so he is experimenting with patterns. He asked if I minded if they were different than the 1st one I purchased and I said no that I actually preferred if they were different so to do what he wanted. I love them all and actually the patterns kind of work with my kids personalities :D:D:D.
Liyah's (crosshatch for the goofy kid :D:D) on left, Ruby's (very feminine) center, Brando's (masculine, straight forward) on right
Unfortunately, the only dog shot I have is of Brando with his - not great but you get the idea of the fit. The iPhone isn't good for capturing basenjis moving and unfortunately mine aren't as well trained like some of the others on here :D.
Here's Brando:

Wow, those are some awesome collars..I like them all.
Did he happen to have a website? -
Wow!! Beautiful collars!! Does he also make them in brown leather?! I'm looking for a brown leather, tapered collar Only problem with these is that the pups can't walk off leash with them, can they?

LOL, I think you might be in luck. He does make them in brown leather. He calls it Chestnut (it is actually natural saddle colour). The style (martingale) I got, no, they can't go off leash with them on. But he also makes a buckle style of the tapered collar which would work perfect for that.
I took a pic of his flyer that I picked up at the dog show so you can see the different types of collars/leads available:
When Liyah & Ruby start lure coursing next year I'm getting the quick release tapered leads. My pics don't do the collars justice - really amazing craftwork.
He doesn't have a website, but does have email and I'd be shocked if he didn't ship overseas.
Honestly I found the prices to be super reasonable considering the quality. The leads were $22ea for the 4ft, $28ea for the 6ft, and the collars were $52ea ($30 for the non-tooled plain version martingale). The buckle hound collar non-tooled version is $25 - the tooled version isn't on his price list as it is a new item. Shipping from MA to Maine was $5.
Needless to say, I was a good customer at Christmas :D:D:D. LOL, anything I can do to help the economy! :D:D

Oh, and even though the chestnut collars show contrasting stitching, you can order them with matching stitching instead. The photo is just a mixture of the options available. Oh, and I have the price list (although I think he said he was increasing prices slightly after the New Year). Let me know if you want prices on anything else :D:D.
I told him when I made my order that I was posting all this out here. :D:D

I love the one with the fur on the inside! And I like the white stitching on the chestnut leather.. It only needs some decoration And maybe 3 inches is a bit too much…
-
Very nice collars and leads love the fur one. I maybe having a New Year's just don't see but how do we get a hold of this man please.

Awesome! I've been looking for a leather quick release lead for coursing. Zoni's breeder has ones for her dogs (not as nice as these though) and they seem so durable. Thanks for sharing. The tooled ones are gorgeous.

very nice collars! I too like the ones with fur very much!
But I prefer the collars with a buckle ( is that the right word ? ) I found a leather studio in germany who makes exactly what I want, they are so pretty and of such a perfect quality and not expensive and they made mine with my own design to stick!
still these martingale with leash collars would be very easy to use at racingtracks and coursing, hmz maybe I contact them -

Jim & Susan Bolduc 413-269-7761 bolduc@bcn.netYes, that contact info is right - thanks for posting it. I had a hard drive failure on my computer and all contact info was on there, so sorry I didn't get back on here sooner with it
I need to sync my iPhone w/computer once in a while so I'm not out of business when one or the other doesn't work.
I got a package from Bolduc yesterday with their invoice and it matches the numbers you've posted.

I will take some pictures of them and my dogs wearing them I have only ordered 2 for my ibizans and 1 for my galgo, but my basenji male and other ibizan hound will get similar too, just need to think of a nice design I try to do this this weekend so please be patient
I also like the fact that they put metal rings on the holes for the buckle, so it doesnt tear out the hole, as most collar makers, put only the holes in it and not metal ring and then sometimes they tear out, ehm I hope you get my point, it is hard to explain in english … -
I definitely understand what you are saying about the rings in the holes :D. Your english is great BTW.

Just ordered a plain black one with lead for Bella. Thanks for posting!
