OMG - another poop story

Basenji Talk
  • Several days ago I had given EL D a bully stick that he had been chewing on for several days and was now only about 4 maybe 41/2 inches long. As I was cleaning up the yard I kept my eye on him because I didn't want him to bury it in my flower beds nor did I want him to get stuck on it. After a bit, I noticed he was no longer chewing and I assumed he had buried it in the flower beds though I couldn't really find any new holes.
Yesterday we were in the yard enjoying an exceptionally warm day and I was going around and cleaning up his droppings when what did I find – yes  indeed -- I found this one big pooplog with the whole bully stick in it! I can't believe it passed through his system like that without causing problems. OMG!

  • That is amazing…Sounds painful!

  • With Zip the last bit of bully stick usually comes back up the other end if she manages to swallow it and I don't catch it in time. I have definitely dealt with more dog throw-up than I anticipated. I was ready for the poo, haha.

  • HA ha! That is so funny! When Foster was a puppy he used to eat whole pecans that had dropped out of the tree in the backyard and then the next day he'd walk around for ten minutes trying to poop the whole thing out! He learned pretty quick not to eat them!!

  • Poop stories are the best !

    glad he is ok

  • My husband hates to go to dinner with my dog friends, as we tell these type of stories over the meal.
    Laugh…

  • Sharron – too funny :D :D :D

  • Haha. That is crazy! Glad he's okay after passing ahem something to that extent. :D

An agility dog is always an agility dog, no matter how old! And racers too I guess! None of mine are athletes but Nicky at 14 always amazes people, if you don't see her grey hairs or cataracts, you think she is much younger. Love the 'oldies but goodies'.

@tanza: Amen to that Kellie…. and put them in your lap and then show people.. sorry... they do shed.. but that it is not as much as many other breeds... gggg.... And of course, most Basenjis are not "lap dogs" so… when you put this noisy, somewhat shedding dog in their laps they quickly find that it is wiggling and squirming to get down...

It sounds just like EL D a couple of months ago. Except the cat made it to the fence but couldn't quite make it over, did a sommersault over EL D. As EL D turned around the cat tried again and just cleared the fence. Lucckkyyyy :)

@wizard: EL D really only gets "into trouble" when he wants my attention. Then he'll grab whatever (and I do mean whatever) is close at hand/mouth and parade it past me before running away like hell. :D Oh yes, Trixie brings me things all the time that she knows she is not supposed to have!!! Its a big game between her and I. A tad bit frustrating at times lol! She also follows me from room to room watching my every move. Especially when I am cleaning or putting things away. New cupboard doors to snoop around in I suppose. They are such curious dogs. My other girl dog Josie could care less what I am doing. She just wants her food, water and her everyday petting from me.
