Help: 2 Dogs Need Home in NV

Basenji Rescue
  • Please take a look at the faces on the photo. These two have been together all their lives and are now homeless due to the sudden death of their people mom in Henderson, Nevada.

Time is critical. If you know anyone who would foster these until a home is found or know someone who would adopt an incredibly sweet pair of dogs, please let us know immediately and contact Sharron. Due to the housing mess and the high number of foreclosures especially in Nevada, rescues are overloaded. Please help us find a place for these two.

These dogs are a bonded pair and have been together since around 8 mos. old. Loki is the (male) Basenji and Lily is a (female) mix (I believe some Anatolian Shepard is prominent there) and both are now 6 years old as of February.

There is a possibility that these dogs will be sent to a shelter. The only shelter that will not kill is the Betty Honn Anithis animal shelter. All the others do. Especially large dogs, they have a hard time placing them. Most people want a small dog or pup.

These dogs are not BRAT dogs.

  • I hope someone can help rehome these poor dogs.

This group and BRAT are great…everyone wants to do what they can to help these old dogs who fall on hard times. These type of b's just break my heart. Glad to hear this old dear will fall into soft hands.

I feel like people need to be just as careful when choosing a rescue as they are when choosing a breeder. Rescues have been found to be hoarders, to be breeders labelling their dogs as rescues as a marketing ploy, or like PETA, to kill 97% of animals they "rescue". The impression I got of this rescue was that it was not one I wanted to work with because they seemed to hold some extreme views. I am delighted to hear that I was wrong and that this is a good rescue. The situation with the "breeder" is horrible, and I am glad this girl is finally being cared for. I agree that the breeder has earned herself a place in you know where. After Estelle passed away while my MIL was in the process of trying to adopt her she is a little gun shy. It is amazing how attached you can get to an animal you haven't even met. -Nicole
