Help my sister out

Off Topic

  • I voted this morning - she's still in the lead (and I think her yard really deserves it :))

  • I voted for her too!

  • Wow, thanks guys!!!!
She really does deserve this. She is 25 and an RN who purchased her very first home just a 10 months ago. It took her and my dad (and the rest of the family) about 5 months to redo it. It was trashed by the people who lost it. She has put alot of hard work in this and it would be nice to see her win.
She is a basenji nut too, but has not adopeted one yet. She has 2 BRATs that are in the family and she does a great job of dogsitting. She just wants to make sure she has the time and lifestyle for a dog, because she knows that its for life.
I will let her know you all are helping out.
    Thanks again
**you can vote everyday if you want:)

  • I voted voted for Courtney too! How many times can we go back and vote??? Any idea? I hit the VOTE button twice - don't know if it was counted twice.

  • I just voted… good luck!

  • I voted again, she is still in the lead!

  • I voted also. Courtney is ahead about about 5%. Good luck!

    Jenn

  • Hey Guys Walt Is In The Lead!!!! We Can't Let This Happen, Let's Help Christy's Sister Win This!!!!

  • Thanks guys! Walt has pulled ahead:(
If you would like to vote again, I (and my sis) would appreciate it.

  • If we all go and vote again, we should be able to close the gap. I just went and voted and already Walt's lead has shrunk from 8% last night to 4% this morning. Keep up the voting!

  • I just voted again and it looks like your sister is now ahead by a slim lead.

    Pat

  • I voted again - Courtney's ahead 3.1% - small lead

  • I tried to vote at work but the firewall wouldn't let me get there so I will have to vote a few times from home tonight to help keep her in the lead!

Courtney is at 42.27% and Walt is close behind at 39.25%, Mandi is in third place at 18.48%.

  • I went to vote again this morning …and it wouldn't let me. So, am I reading and interpreting this correctly: The voting is over and it appears that your sister is the winner with just under %44 of the votes. Is that the way it works or does a panel still get to decide and just take the votes into consideration?

If she did win: CONGRATULATIONS!!!! and be sure to post the "after" pictures!

    Pat

It let me vote? I think… but I was reading the rules and it says the winner will be announce April 19th at 5pm... and winner must be present... Looks like it is a some type of garden show?

  • I just voted again this AM & it allowed me. She is now at 44% & Walt is at 39%…it does appear that it ends tonight at 5.

  • Darn it!! Okay…I went back in to the site all over again instead of through the link I saved to "favorites" and it did let me vote again. She is still ahead but I liked it better when I thought she had already won!

  • Hi everyone. thanks so much for taking the time to vote for courtney.
    She did win!!!
We are so excited and her house will look so cute once this is done. She tried to get on here to thank you, but it wouldnt let her register for some reason.
She reads on here all the time and enjoyes reading the funny stories. She has such a funny idea for a thread…post later.
She is going to meet with the landscapers next friday and they are going to find out what she wants and take some pictures and measurements. Then they are going to do some copmuterized layouts and let her pick or change things, and then do it all the first of June or maybe sooner.
    Thanks Again

  • That's WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!

    Pat

  • Yeah! I am so excited for Courtney and you!

You do so many great things for the Basenji community Christy, you deserve some good vibes back your way!

I know how you feel. It's horrible to live close to animal neglect. My new next-door neighbors leave their two dogs out 24/7– heat, rain, snow, lightning storm. They have a big fenced yard, but almost no shade. Of course, the dogs bark non-stop. There's no talking to people like that-- I've already been told to mind my own business. Maybe your neighbor will take you up on your offer... but probably not. It's sad.

@YodelDogs: I bought a new printer recently and I'm having problems with it. It is an HP Photosmart C4680. The problem that I am having is that it keeps printing the file name on the top of the printed page. It also keeps adding page numbers. Does anyone know how I can stop it from doing these two things? I am getting seriously frustrated with this. If you open the HP Print software on the File menu look for a Properties, Options, Printer Setup, Printer or Preferences and in one of those you will most likely find the option to uncheck those options.

@BasenjiDiva: Maybe a sheet of plywood to cover the door? (We put our dogs in wire crates when we leave the house and while they tolerate them when we gone, they cry loudly when they know we are around. I don't think we could entertain guests with their dramatics going on. ) While our dogs like and tolerate our little grandsons, there are times I feel like they need to be separated. Then I put high baby gates up to secure the dogs in the kitchen. Is that possible in your home? It is a bit of a hassle for people to go in and out of the kitchen but it is very doable and beats the alternative. And the dogs can see what's going on. Pat We have this problem with Querk too. He is almost never crated, except when we have a big group of people over. What we have done that works is put his crate in a room as far away from the gathering place as possible, and close the door…and let him cry it out. He usually quiets down after he realizes that he is in for the duration of the party. He will start up again if he hears someone. I have been known to put his crate in the van too, if the weather is cooperative.

Good for you to do this for the dogs. I always consider the dogs in shelters the lucky one. Its the ones who are homeless and living by their wits I worry so very much about.
