Thank you Suzee. They had fun with the squirrel after they found it. I like watching that Python Hunters show that is on OLN about the invasive species of snakes in FL. It is a good show and it does show us how we have disrupted the ecosystem by introducing non native species to different parts of the world. I have not seen a squirrel in the yard for a couple of weeks now, it's great! Once I get the rest of the acreage fenced in they can go into the back pasture and hunt mice through the grass. We don't have a lot of rabbits out here but in the summer time I will take pics of their new place to run!

Helena, yes we are going to keep in touch, i have sent them a link to Sally's site. They couldn't find the paperwork for the dogs but one of the dogs came from a wing commander ? and they remember the name Horsley, another dog came from Liverpool. They belonged to the nbs in the 70's.

I am so sorry that Maya was attacked. I am fed up with people who let their dogs off the lead when they obviously shouldn't be. I avoid places where I am likely to encounter other dogs, you would not believe the goings on re-dogs at the country park it almost makes you feel ashamed to be a dog owner. You are lucky Maya coped so well. Fiji was bitten by a Rhodesian Ridgeback when she was a puppy and she is now terrified of bigger dogs.

@EskiLovr: Don't forget that the most favorite game to play for most Basenji's is, guess what? Chase games! They love to chase other dogs, and BE chased too. That's the favorite activity for our boy at the dog park. If he can find another dog that understands how to play the 'chase game' he's in heaven! And heaven help you if want to get ahold of him around the house. If I step after him, he immediately darts away and looks back as if to say "come-n-get me" tail wagging the whole time! That sounds just like my boy! He will grab something he knows he isn't supposed to have [i.e. a sock] & make sure that I see him then just start running through the house. If I don't chase him, he will drop it after he notices I am not chasing him. Haha. It cracks me up!

Well Belle is starting to show signs of not taking Champs alpha behavior. She won't allow him to steal her bones (out of her mouth like he wants) and has fought back when he won't stop trying to dominate her. She will share her stuff but won't allow him to demand it from her anymore. We let them work it out and actually like seeing her give him a piece of his own medicine. Unfortunantly we are still crating her since she is not 100% potty trained and since they are still fighting we don't want to leave them out when we are now home. She doesn't like the crate and won't go in on her own even if we put the treats inside. She won't eat or drink while crated either. This morning I forgot something and ran back inside the house to find her shivering in her crate. Poor Belle but what can we do?….As for everything she is fitting in perfectly!

Having your Basenjis get used to crates by riding does help…in the long run.. the start besides things like feeding them in the crate... to associate the crate with fun times.... and when you are at an event... the crate becomes as safe haven... and a place to crash... at our lure trial in March... Kobey was there.. I always have crates in my van... and with so much activity going on... Kobey was very happy to be in the crate and taking a nap....
