I can leave mine loose in the car as long as there is more than one -the only time I've had damage (which included seat belts!) is when one's been left on their own. I would never leave the car running though and I always leave it in gear (I don't have internal locking either).

GenJMar, I am glad they realized their mistake in running out while iot rained..;) The gate is locked and secure now they are stuck on the inside. It is very hard for me to get Otis to come inside when I am about to run errands or just leave to go get my daughter from school..he loves to be outside, even if it is cold and he is shivering. So I bribe him with treats and in he comes, but the minute the door closes behind him he goes nuts, trying to get back out..Silly boy.

Nice photos, Jonny was a good boy! He was probably happy to play with another basenji! Glad it all went so well.

@LiveWWSD: Oh what a good dog Keoki is. Charli and his Golden retreaver friend are like that when they haven't seen eachother in a while. Charlie will yell and scream at her untill she rolls over on her back, then he usualy calms down. Now Mind you I take Charlie out to meet dogs at the park EVERY week at least once. You can never stop socializing terriers or they forget and get mean. You know, I think you may be right. When Duke was a young puppy she did take him to puppy classes and he did fine. In fact, his best buddy at class was another Basenji boy. She said that even have problems now just taking Duke to the vet as he viciously – and let me tell you, he is OUT OF CONTROL. If not for his size, they would be unable to handle him -- growls and snaps at every dog in the waiting room. Short of mailing him to Cesar Milan's {sorry Querc, LOL} center, I have no clue where to advise them to look for help. The dog is very sweet, but very high strung and living with a high strung family. There is no clear leader in the family; the dog is jumping on everyone, etc. and I think that really feeds his behavior when they encounter other dogs. Sucks to be them. My dog was awesome yesterday. :p

Jill, Chase and Zahra played with ours so much the first few days that my husband was gone (he just left on deployment) that the batteries are already dead. I am glad that Duke loves the ball! Seko, You could probably order one of these online at one of the links I added. I would get the one with the lights it seems like it is much more entertaining for them and worth the money! Jenn

Hollie is also a mixed breed. She is Basenji and Whippet. I found out early on that she fears no other dogs. She is approximately 30 lbs and almost 2 years old. She plays with dogs of all sizes on a regular basis and backs down from none. Her "boyfriend" at the local dogpark is a 6 month old Irish Wolfhound ,whose favorite game is let's put Hollie's head in my mouth, this puppy is already 3 times her size in body (not sure of his weight at this point - but he is expected to be over 170 lbs full grown). Hollie plays with the Mastiffs, Ridgebacks and other large breeds. I prefer this now, seeing how rough a basenji can be when playing.
