Wilys accident

hi all,
as some of you may know, wily was in a horrifying accident while in the care of dallas and his assistant dave. we were out of town on business this past wk. wily is paralyzed from the waist down and is currently seeing a neurologist. i wanted to let you all know so that you can send him your prayers. needless to say my husband and i are devastated. and are hoping for only the best news.also, if anyone knows of what actually happened, if you could email me and let me know. dallas admitted him to the hospital on tue morning to VMC, but did not inform me until 24 hrs later that there was an ER and i had to come home right away. needless to say, i'm more than frustrated that he did not immediately call me. on top of that when he informed me yesterday he still would not tell me what had happened. the nurse at VMC told me what dallas had told her when they admitted him. however, i still don't know what really happened. dallas has yet to call and even check in on wily. he said that he fired his friend dave. i hope he's not still at the park with anyone else's dogs.. bella, iowa.. if anyone has information, please let me know.
i appreciate all your good thoughts while we deal with this.
thanks

WilysMom,
I am so sorry to hear of Wily's accident. Even though I haven't had the chance to meet Wily, I am hoping and praying that he will recover.
I know how horrible it is to have something like this happen to your dog while you are out of town. I lost my first basenji nearly two years ago while I was looking for a job in the San Diego area. At the time I lived in Charlotte, NC. My petsitter never called me to tell me that perfectly healthy 5-year-old basenji, Bosley wasn't acting right (didn't want to eat or go for a walk and had had horrible black diarhhea throughout the condo). I came home to find him nearly unable to walk. He died a few hours later from "something toxic" he must have eaten. A necropsy did nothing to determine what that "something" was. I have never been able to fully forgive my petsitter for what I felt was a lack of care and concern.
We hate to have to leave our guys at home and we do the best that we can to make sure that they are in good hand when we have to go out of town, but sometime terrible things happen no matter what we do.
Please keep us updated on Wily's condition.
Suzanna

hi laura,
this happened on tue morning. i heard from chad who said that he heard from rhonda that they were trying to get him in the truck that morning and he ran onto riverside drive and was struck by a car. they had not put a lead on him and he got away. this is unacceptable and grossly negligent. and dallas still hasnt called us to even check on wily or tell me any of what may have really happened. i've gotten all of this information second/third-hand. unreal. -

Keeping fingers crossed and keeping you and Wily in my thoughts and prayers. We had a dog who suffered a spinal injury and surgery was able to return him to an excellent level of living ….for another 11 years. I hope Wily's outcome is as good.

and prayers for your furbaby's full recovery. Such a tragic situation especially with no details of the accident and lack of concern from the pet sitters. UnReal!

I think the fact that the dog walker is not even calling you makes it worse. I hope he is bonded.

Wily was chasing Tyler around the park like crazy last Friday – that's the last I saw of him or the walkers.
I'll look for them on Monday during their regular hours.
