Australian basenji!

im currently buying my first basenji! i am very excited but have a question. it is going to be an australiian breed. are they the same size as other or are they bigger than standard size..

Welcome to the forum. What breeder are you getting your pup from? I'm pretty sure that australian basenjis are same size as all other basenjis

They are all about the same size all over the world… Who is the breeder you are getting your pup from?

Are you getting your pup from Tad? I know that he and Dilys co bred an litter from their Aust imports.

yes im getting mine from tad. he has a dog named neo that i really liked. when i saw neo i just thought he seemed a little bigger than the rest of them

Basenjis do come in many different sizes….:) Really has nothing to do with where they come from... but many other things about their conformation are different around the world..

Keoki's sire is an Australian import. It's been a long time since I've seen him, and as I didn't know at the time that I'd have one of his puppies some day I didn't really take great notice {except that he is a gorgeous boy}. I don't recall him being particularly large. {Khani? ]

Keoki isn't an unusually large boy either.

@kycowan22:

do u know tad?

I do know Tad

I know Tad also, I got my Tayda from him a few years ago. He and his partner Joseph are a lovely pair….

You'll soon see… the basenji world is really small.... 🙂

The best advise you can get is from Tad…. .... main thing is to be consistant, crate train, work on house training... and above all have a sense of humor....

So exciting to be getting a puppy! Congrats! Keep us posted and we will of course want lots and lots of pics!! We all adore puppy pics!! 🙂

My added advice is: Love them unconditionally, just as they do you. Forgive easily… don't worry- it will be hard to stay mad at something so cute!! And spoil incessantly! mwhahahah!! 😉

its gonna be a long 8 weeks waiting but ill be sure to post some pics thanks for the help

Keoki's sire (Buka) is an Aussie import. He is good-sized, though I haven't wicketed him. But I know he is one of our biggest dog, probably 17.5-18" tall, but very well proportioned.

As Pat said, it doens't matter where they are from as to their size. I've seen some really small Aussie dogs, just as some American dogs can be really big and some can be really little.
