When my daughter was 10-11, we went to the Basenji National, I think in Indianapolis. She showed in Juniors at the time, and I think showed a few of our adults too. They had a costume contest (it was before Halloween) and she and our Spicer entered. I made her a Dorothy outfit, and Spicer's 'witch' outfit. I attached a 'gown', to a dark lure coursing shirt (sorry, forget what they are called), that dragged on the floor when he walked. I took some glow in the dark paint and wrote on the gown "I'M MELTING" She's 32 now, married, and I gave the dog stuff to her a couple of years ago. You'll just have to take my word for it, they were adorable! Oh, for the next couple of years when the kids went trick or treating, Spicer got to go, wearing his costume too. He held his head so high, I like to think he was so proud that he won the costume contest. After all, Monica was cute, but HE won!

OMG soooo cute. Her colouring and face don't look like a basenji, but maybe she's mixed with something with stronger genes. Do a DNA test. That would be fun!

The traits you described are also found in most of the Nordic/spitz type dogs. I don't see anything overly basenji-ish about him in the pics. What ever he is, he's very hansome.

I could see a B in her face. I agree with the shepard cross. :)

Good luck! Dukati…thanks for the thread. I agree that is it is very helpful to get input on your pup and know what you're working with. I try to get brutally honest opinions if I can but it's hard to get sometimes with people you know personally. I've been thinking about doing one like this with Zoni but I haven't been happy with any of the pictures I've taken yet. Just a slight difference in angle is enough to make them look off...particularly fronts. Good pictures are hard to take. For those who don't have Bob Cole's book, here is a link to an online version...albeit a very, very brief version (doesn't compare to the book), with a passing mention of the second thigh. For newbies to showing, I also highly recommend it...I've been studying it alot. http://www.basenjiclubofcanada.com/BCOC-BobCole.html
