Found: Black and White in Reno, NV

  • I was contacted this morning by a very nice woman in Reno, NV who had found a young black and white basenji in Sparks. She estimates her age to be between 5-6 months old and she was found running on the streets with nothing but a black buckle collar. She took her in to check for a microchip and there was none and no ID tags on the collar.

If anyone has lost a basenji in the Reno/Sparks area or recognizes this girl please let me know and I can give you the woman's email address. I put her in touch with Sharron so she will be getting assistance from BRAT if no one claims her.

  • I don't have anything helpful but just had to say..What a beautiful pup!!! Sure hope she gets back home or finds one soon. So precious!:)

  • Surely someone is out looking for her, is anyone local posting "found" signs and looking for "lost dog" signs? Our local newspaper takes Found ads for free. Also check Craig's List for Lost postings.

I already looked at craigslist and Kijiji, no luck..
I sure hope she finds a home, whether it is her old missing home or a new forever home.

  • She is so pretty I do hope she gets back home. At least good news she not on the streets getting hurt or killed and someone will take her love her thats for sure.

It appears the post has been removed.. I checked my Facebook where I shared the post, and couldn't find anything. Assuming the owner has been found?

@DolceMomma: Hi all, I got the most wonderful gift tonight…holding my beloved little Spot on my lap and in my arms while he slept. He's home with us at last. Thank you all so much for your thoughts, your prayers, and your help. Thank God for the happy news! I'm sure that Amy is happy to have Mr. Spot back in her arms. I'm so glad to read another story to encourage lost owners to NEVER give up on lost b's! :)

@seaslugg@aol.com: We got Raven home tonight!! Thank you for support!!! I am so happy you got Raven home. You now can be a good ambassador to the "don't use invisible fencing" brigade. Call any animal shelter and find out how many dogs they get in with collars on. Once a dog bolts through the pain, they won't risk it coming back in. Many end up dead. There are lots of options if you can't have "real" fencing, but often the only choice is simply go out with your dog, on a lead or line. Apt folks survive doing it. Oh wait, and so do the dogs. Please post pics and yes, PLEASE tell us how you got your pet back!
