By George…I Think She's Got It

Basenji Training
  • Finally!
After all the wrestles nights of trying to keep our Kiya out of the bed I think she is caving in. Ever since we brought her home she slept with us but she has outgrown her welcome. She would hog the entire bed leaving us with a sliver of space. :o
We already trained Chance to sleep in his own bed and he no longer tries to join us. After the constant tug-of-war with Kiya we won. She is now sleeping on her own bed!!!!!!!
Aaahhhh I just love having my OWN bed back
    gggggggg :D

  • Hmmmm…. that post could be the "kiss" of death...gggg

And I hope that she doesn't take out her "non" bed fustration on her "handler" at the shows this weekend...ggggg..... bring your camera... could be some interesting shots!

  • Lets hope that's not the case but you never know with a Tri :)
I'll have a camera in one hand and a video recorder in the other just to make sure we capture everything. LOL

Hi Joti and Karen, We live in Ladner, but we have done lure course practicing with Kipawa in the Cloverdale area. The people who host the lure course practicing have whippets. They have a large acreage and often set up two styles of courses - one straight and one 'freeform' (not sure if that is the right word for it). Can you email me at compucat@dccnet.com and I will give you more information. They are holding a practice tomorrow, August 12 that begins at 10 a.m.

@DebraDownSouth: Okay that is pretty funny! Glad the judge passed her. Hey, perhaps the judge appreciated the intelligence to go check something out then resume business? Thanks everyone. She had really lovely runs all weekend (except Sunday's Std run) and I'm so very, very proud of her. She went through a fear(?) period on courses towards the beginning of the year, so she's come a long way. And, DDS, no, agility judges do not appreciate creativity on course. If you don't believe me, ask Jet the trying. :D Of course I always thought maybe the judge watching Jet would think "Gosh, that really is a nicer course."

My Basenjis have always loved radishes… I would start them young with them... just tossing them on the floor whole... they would roll and toss them around the floor and then finally biting into them... a couple of days of that, they were hooked... makes a great treat... but I did make sure they were a bit on the sweet side then the "hot" side

Actually I have bought the muzzles in Austria at that shop: http://www.sofahund.at And yes, the dogs can open their mouths while running. This is the reason why I searched to find these muzzles. They also have the plastic-coated wire muzzles with the wire across the head. Regards, Esther

In our house there is one way to get back inside… Now before you say thats unfair, we don't have a yard so human and basenji have to stand out in the rain until Indy does what he needs to do. It will only take one or two times to make the point. Plus no potty in the house
