Hello

  • Welcome fellow British Columbian. I'm from Northern B.C. and my family and I are waiting on our B to come to us sometime in April. This is a awesome site full of ppl just waiting to answer any questions that you may have.

  • Welcome. We are also from the Pacific Northwest. If you are truly thinking about a rescue then Sharron is your girl. And we are always looking for a good excuse to go to the island and Victoria. So I volunteer for the transport.

  • Marley Jo, you watch out…I will ask you to transport...laugh.
    Hugs for the nice words.

  • Hello & welcome from a fellow Canadian. Lots of good stuff to read here. Seeing you're from B.C. you might like to check this out: www.ocean-dog-rescue.org

  • We did fill out a BRAT adoption form last year and Sharron e-mailed and did suggest we meet a Basenji or two, which we have done. Funny how things work - I have just received an e-mail about Lily ( one of the names we have thought would be perfect) and I will fillout the contact form and see if she might be the one! She is a long way from the west but it sounds like she has been on a plane once - we could also fly and drive her home. Does flying cause much stress for basenji's?

  • Hello and welcome. Good luck on your search for a Basenji.

  • Beastiegirl, I am not sure your still on the BRAT site.

  • I filled out the adoption form last year. I don't know how long the forms are kept, so it is possible it is no longer there?.should I fill in another?

I understand Pat has e-mailed you regarding us adopting Lily. I would hate to miss a good fit because of paper work. Please let me know if I should re-do the adoption form on Brat.

  • Cheryl, please do fill out a new BRAT Form.
We want to share your info with everyone who can help you.

Off topic…but your avatar is sooooo cute!

  • OMG! How adorable is Lily? Hope it works out for you Beastiegirl.

Me, if I had one extra square foot of space I'd be driving east to get Gwen, but that's just me.

  • Okay I wll fill the BRAT application out again …..can't hurt

Thank you for adopting this beauty. She looks so much like my first basenji.

My heart breaks reading your wonderful story of Dinah - it is so clear she is a huge part of your heart -you will have such wonderful memories of her when it is her time to give up the pain. I also do not believe dogs don't have souls - of course they do - the unconditional love they give, the way they try to help when you are emotionally suffering, the joy they get when they see you coming after a separation - all these and more are proof they are very soulful. A loving companion dog is God's gift. All our hearts are with you, and our tears flow with yours. God bless.

I look forward to your pictures. I'm a technophobe too - I keep telling myself I can do it but so far haven't posted any. One of my bitches was spoiled for the show ring by such a judge who didn't know how to approach a hound (although he was a Saluki judge and should have!). She was experienced at showing as well but was traumatised because when she backed away at his front on, silly voice approach she nearly fell from the table! Of course she blamed the fall on his approach. I worked on her intensively but to no avail. Yes, Basenjis on the whole are friendly and they never forget a friend either!

I agree with the others that this is not a common practice among BCOA breeders. I am sorry that this happened to you and yes, you should get your deposit back.
