• Poor Jazzy.
I gave her a bath tonight in prep. for tomorrow's show, and as usual following her bath she was very hyper. She loves to RUN RUN the yard after a bath {yes, gets her feet all dirty again}.
My daughter stood by the sliding glass door, called Jazzy, and the poor dog took off like a shot – thinking the glass door was already open -- and slammed into it face-on! Horrible THUD, followed by a muted yelp, and a holler from my daughter.
Jazz shook her self off, licked her lips a few thousand times, and then was ready to go out the OPEN door and do her B-500 out back. All is well.

Had me worried there for a minute.

  • We were headed out the front door for a walk when Abbey spotted a bird under the bush directly in front of the door. She shot out the door like she'd been blasted out of a cannon, hit the ground and did about 5 sommersaults, landing flat on her back under the shrubs. But she was up and gone in a flash. B's don't let a little thing like pain slow them down, do they?

  • My Hollie also has run into the glass sliding door at my parents home. They get so excited and in such a hurry, especially if there's a critter outside they want to chase.

  • The same thing happend when my two were playing. Poor Savannah went slamming into the glass door. She was hurting the next day. I hope your was fine.

Also, my two will run from the bedroom, slipping and sliding all thru the house on the hard wood floor and then they will cram themselves at high speed to get thru the doggie dog, just to chase a squirrel they never saw but only heard. Their hearing is amazing and it's also amazing that they will jump up from a laying down position into a full speed sprint. It's scary.

  • Put these on the door at eye level.

  • Funny that this topic has just come up :D…

Saba jumped on our glass loungeroom door last Saturday, and ended up at the Vets, with 15 stitches, and a $450 Vets bill, thank you very much :eek::eek:.

Hes is fine, thank goodness it was only a superficial wound, only the skin and fat layer was torn, somehow he managed to cut no further in, than that :(.

As distressing as it was, I think he was a VERY lucky boy, not to have done more damage...

  • Thankfully he hasnt seemed interested in jumping on the glass door, cant imagine why !!!

Boy oh boy, did I ever get a great example of a Basenji scream too… Incredible noise/sound...

  • We had major nose hits to the sliding glass door before the blue masking tape, one of my daughters little friends even nailed it once. It works great!

  • see, that's why i don't clean the nose smudges off my windows. (that's my story and i'm sticking to it!)

  • Luckily, at my parents house, their dog has put smudges all over that door, and Medjai just scratches at it when he wants in. (I know I shouldn't reward it, but he wants in).

I had Medjai yelp once when jumping off the bed, which is strange because he likes to sit on my shoulders and has jumped off there to chase animals without a problem.

Keoki scratches when he wants in – started when we taught him to ring bells that were hanging, but the bells have disappeared "literally", so now he just scratches.
Drives my husband crazy, but hey! Jazzy just sits quietly and winds up staying outside far longer than she wants to because I don't know she wants in. Keoki jumps up and scratches loudly.. guess who gets first?
