  • That's way cool. Thanks for sharing (I don't have cable, so this is the only way I get to see it!)

  • Way ta go, Chad!

Is there any way to post the video of the show on YouTube (or this Forum)? I'd love to watch it!

  • Hey Chad way to go on the tatoo!!! I think it's TOTALLY cool to look like your basenji :D :D :D

  • That is so cool.

  • That is awesome! I am a big fan of kat von d, and watched her all the time on miami ink, but havent really watched la ink, but still that is awesome you and ur b were on the show.. i'll be sure to watch it next time it airs.. if you dont mind me asking, how much was it for the tat? i've heard it really pricey at miami ink, so i would figure la ink would be the same! did kat do it??

It's $200/hr at the shop–the last time i got tattooed was 12 years ago so I don' t know if that's expensive. Mine was done by Hannah, who is an AMAZING artist. They all are. It was really basic so anyone could have done it. Mostly wanted to do it on the show for memories of me and my lil buddy.

  • @chad:

I really want to find a lure coursing group near Los Angeles, but the nearest ones are in San Diego (hours away).

I also want to get my B involved in lure coursing.
I just joined a yahoo group called socal coursing that's basically an e-mail list for sending out announcements. Right around the time I was looking, like the very next day, there was an event in Riverside, Feb 2 and 3. It was held by the Inland Wilderness Hunt Club, I believe. I'm definitely going to keep an eye out for future events. In the meantime I wish I could find someplace that has a course so Zip could just try it. Her breeder took her once and said the noise scared her. So it might not be in the cards, we'll see. Everything I read about it and all the pictures I see make it look like it must be such a ball for them!

i love the idea and think its just so awesome you did it! i've never got one, but $200 an hour doesnt sound to bad.. and the memory will last a lifetime! very cool

@JENGOSMonkey I WAS THERE FOR '89! I was a kid, but I remember the water coming out of the swimming pool in huge waves and everything falling from the shelves! I was actually born in San Jose, but moved around a lot later LOL I hear the wildfires are more of a concern for you guys now? That's scarier than quakes for me...

@kembe - Very True Kembe, here is a link on looking for a responsible breeder. https://bconc.org/finding-breeders-red-flags There are many scammers out there, don't fall for one.. or a person that is not a responsible breeder.

@sanjibasenji Thanks for the article on Dog Genome Project - I found it very interesting. I was trying to figure out the interactive Genome wheel. It has the basenji closely related to the Azawakh and rat terrier but I’m still trying to figure out the first wheel which has the basenji listed w/ black/grey starting point. As far as the PBS Dog Tales video - it’s very interesting - it’s season 47 episode 2 - I highly recommend you watch the whole thing (54 minutes).

@Kembe, nice post! We've gone to solid food chopped up in a food processor, but we're grinding it a bit more course as we go. So far, no puppies are choking, but good to know!

@Ashmoore92 It got put on the "back burner" ... I have some, but not enough for a book. I'll circle back around to it.
