  • Goober stole all the other dog's breakfast and dinner yesterday now he won't eat his dinner, has diarrhea and just threw up. We know he is very sensitive to his food so could this cause it? Also he had a new brand of wet food yesterday.

  • Unless you find something else that he got into… I would guess that is the cause...

  • So here's the deal. about 2 months ago we lost 2 cats within about 6 hours of each other. One was hit by a car the other had gotten into something in my basement (goober doesn't go in there). 3 days later our 15 year old poodle had spinal problems (after some steroids she was OK). Now, if there is anything wrong with any of our animals I go crazy. My wife and I cannot have children without medical intervention, so for the moment our pets are all we have.

  • Well, if you are that worried, then maybe a trip to the Vet is in order… however most (and please note I say most) time these will clear up in a day or two...

  • @Gooby:

And this is another good reason for feeding it crates and taking the food away when you let them out

@Gabriel: I have a small travel type crate that I put Noel in while we are away from home and at night. she is 14 weeks. She is really getting to big for this. What types of crates do you keep your B's in? I am looking at a medium size cage type kennel. 30L x 19W x 21H inches I want to be sure she has plenty of room to lay down in it. What is your advice? i got a crate big enough 4 a large dog. like a lab or something simular. I had 2 get the travel crate because in a wire crate she would pull things into the crate and eat it. comforters rugs you name it. She even ate her bed. fluff everywhere.

I have two females and two males that live together without problems. I have another female that has to be separated from the other two females and can only be with her male buddy. So I've had to separate into two packs. I have a mutt(short legged basenji:D ) that has seen all the basenjis come into the fold, four of the basenji's I trust around her two I don't. They're all different IMO. Male and female pairings seem to just work out the best. Raising them together as pups up's the odds for success, but things can certainly change as they get older. @jys1011: It's really sad that people can be so ignorant & generalize characteristics over an entire breed… That being said...can you imagine how owners of pits, rotties, or dobermans feel. I'm sure they get ostracized all the time for having their dogs. However, there is no need for people to be down right rude! If they want to stereotype that's their business but show a little RESPECT & above all some MANNERS! YUCK! I would have purposely said something obnoxious (Oh please lady...I only feed my dog "quality" ingredients lol :D ) but that's just ME :D I can be pretty sarcastic when people offend me on purpose. And nasty remarks against my precious pooches...oooh god help those people!! Ha, ha…love the comment. I have heard comments like the one the OP was faced with...just not that many in one day :( I do feel that more and more dog people are realizing that Basenjis aren't nasty...they are different. But it does baffle me when people need to say such rude things outloud. Maybe we don't have that kind of folks around where we course because Dr.Tracy would kick their tushies! ;)
