While you might have a point, I disagree. I know many pure red lines that not only do not have that red coat you refer to but also it is a very thick coat. This did not come from Brindles. Also black masking on red Basenjis is more the cause than a bleed from Brindles. The black masking is in a number of bloodlines and was around way before the Brindles showed up. Most believe this is coming from Tri's. Black in the tail is also usually from being Tri factored. And I don't say this because I have or breed Brindles, because I don't. I just don't believe the this color is the cause. I think we have a number of lines that produce that rich red color.

So I have A male basenji (Spike) and recently he has began whinning and howling ALL the time. So my question to be blunt is does he need some action? He has also started licking spots on the ground and his teeth chatter like his lower jaw rattles has anyone ever heard of any of this?
-
Is he "fixed" and what kind of "spots on the ground"?
-
Sounds like there is a female in heat in the area.
-
Yup… 99% there is a bitch in season someplace close in your area
-
thats what I thought…He runs to every window looking outside and I can hardly get him to come inside when we take him outside. I figured he smelled something he "likes" and wants to find it.
Thanks for the replys -
is spike fixed?
-
If not, are you planning/or showing him?

My 10 year old fixed (many years) male does the teeth chatter some times on an interesting scent. As a matter of fact I've seen my female do it also on a couple of occasions.
Is this common??
-
Teeth chattering, yes, my 2 b's do this as well.
