Some years back, during our Shiba Inu and Jindo period our Jindo developed a terrible rash and wht with her licking turned into huge hot spots, loss of hair and everything. Our vet narrowed it down to a grain alergy, suggested we go to an avocado based food, AvoDerm. Within 2 weeks she stopped itching and chewing, and 6 months later all her hair was grown out. As time went by she developed a beautiful luxurious coat, never had another problem with alergies or skin problems. We realize that B's dont have the long double coats like Shibas or Jindos, but our philosophy is if it ain't broke don't fix it, so we have just continued feeding AvoDerm to our B's as we accumulated our pack. The main problem with it is, if we feed them as reccomended they gain weight, so we really have to watch their diet.

Welcome. We are also from the Pacific Northwest. If you are truly thinking about a rescue then Sharron is your girl. And we are always looking for a good excuse to go to the island and Victoria. So I volunteer for the transport.
-
Marley Jo, you watch out…I will ask you to transport...laugh.
Hugs for the nice words. -

We did fill out a BRAT adoption form last year and Sharron e-mailed and did suggest we meet a Basenji or two, which we have done. Funny how things work - I have just received an e-mail about Lily ( one of the names we have thought would be perfect) and I will fillout the contact form and see if she might be the one! She is a long way from the west but it sounds like she has been on a plane once - we could also fly and drive her home. Does flying cause much stress for basenji's?
-
Hello and welcome. Good luck on your search for a Basenji.
-
Beastiegirl, I am not sure your still on the BRAT site.

I filled out the adoption form last year. I don't know how long the forms are kept, so it is possible it is no longer there?.should I fill in another?
I understand Pat has e-mailed you regarding us adopting Lily. I would hate to miss a good fit because of paper work. Please let me know if I should re-do the adoption form on Brat.
