Basenjis For Sale or Wanted
  • I am looking for female basenji as friend for my 1 year old male basenji. would be interested in healthy show prospect, although might be interested in puppy. My male is a very typical brindle male, and is spooled rotten!! But he need a friend that he can run and play with.

  • Have you thought about rescue? There are a lot of dogs out there needing good homes

  • Is your male show quality?

  • I am planning to show him this coming year, He has everything that i could want in a Basenji, But I don't know what the judges would think of him! I have a trainer that is going to work with him and I over the next few months. He does have some great gene's. I can only hope he does well, It really doesn't mean a great deal to me because he has so many great traits and is a delight to be around.

  • I would love to see a photo.
I don't breed or show, but I love going to dog shows and watching the b's.
I know how hard breeders work to find a basenji that shows all the traits our beloved breed is suspose to have.
Lots of work and love going into breeding litter..
    I admire you all.

What about his breeder? And what is his pedigree?

  • Might just be my computer skills, but the pics are very, very tiny.

  • To my untrained eye, he is lovely.
    Who is the breeder again???

  • I think it is my computer skill that are lacking, I have not mastered the picture thing on the computer yet! But am learning,, Maybe!! Solomon was breed Asil's Basenji's, Sire walkabout by eldorado, dame virtuous victoria!
I am giong to try pictures once again!

  • Have you talked to his breeder about showing? Or did they recommend a handler for you? He is cute, looks like he is still maturing

  • Your boy looks pretty nice. I think you should take a few handling classes and enter a few shows. You may find showing to be a really fun hobby. :)

@yahtzee92 Just make sure you see Mom with the pups if at all possible and you definitely see the health certificates of both parents. OFA website is public domain - anyone can research on it. Tanza is right. Any puppy farmer can pay the BCOA and get listed. It doesn't mean there is any BCOA recommendation or guarantee.

I think that many adopters would pay for the cost. And add to that if it is a situation that a person has contacted BRAT to give up the dog and he/she is not tested then they should be required to put up that fee. I think that BRAT does an excellent job in most respects, however this is one point that I really disagree with not testing. I am not sure that they would agree to test even if people covered the cost

@jmcduff: We were able to pickup Tyson from Kelli and brought him home on Monday. His new buddies Chevy (Tri-female) and Chase (RW-male) are beginning to accept Tyson into our home. Chase has no problem but Chevy is very protective of us and very bitchy toward Tyson. After two days she is getting better. Chase he doesn't care he just goes with the flow. The first night was interesting but we made it through. Our B's sleep in our bed and Chevy wasn't too happy about having to share with Tyson. She doesn't bother him when they are outside together it is mostly inside our house which she is very protective. I have attached a picture of all them together. Ha! Her body language says it all!!! Good luck, and I hope things get better and better! Beautiful dog family there!
