Rescue of the Week 25 Feb - Gyspy in Michigan

Basenji Rescue
  • Hey everyone here's our new Rescue of the Week, meet the very pretty girl Gypsy

    Look at that sweet face

So here's a little about Gypsy from her BRAT site, and here's her link

It’s so easy to fall in love with Gypsy. She appreciates everything so much. She leans into neck scratches and follows her foster mom around the house as if she doesn’t want to lose her. She just needs the right home to show her how wonderful life really can be—with lots of toys, attention, treats, and sleeping in her human’s bed!

Gypsy absolutely loves to play and will almost empty out the doggie toy box, taking in all the different toys. She’s like a kid in a candy store; she has so much to do and never enough time to do it. Gypsy also loves to lie in your lap and be petted until she falls asleep. Oh, and she snores lightly. It adds to her charm along with her little under-bite.

Gypsy’s ideal home would probably be free from cats, dogs, and small children.

That's FABULOUS!!!! Getting any dog, but especially a basenji, to that level in agility is a big accomplishment.

Cale and I are currently in the process of adopting a senior dachshund through Almost Home Dachshund Rescue. Oscar is 11 years old and has a heart murmur. He has a little white "frosting" around his mouth, and he is lumpy. We meet the foster mom to pick him up this Saturday. This will be my first senior rescue, although it will be our fourth (and last for now) dog. This will also be our second dachshund named Oscar, but we think it is too late in life to change his name. Now we will have the Oscars. I am actually really inspired by this little old man. Think about it - he doesn't know he is old, doesn't know he has a heart condition, and doesn't know that he might not last much longer. He lives every day to the fullest, which I wish I did more often. I am really happy that Cale and I can give a loving, safe home to a little old man who deserves it. I think he can teach us all a little something.

hi sharon. I feel like I know you. I have read your stuff on Brat. I am glad that you are getting the word out on Brat. Mabel, My B was adopted from there. I cannot say enough good things about people in that organization. Actually I'm in that organization. We are good people. Mabel's foster was very helpful with helping me understand her behavior. I think a lot of it was due to fact Mabel is an alpha female. Well just thought I would say hi bubsgram94
