How many of you have several female Basenji's in your house and if you do how do they get along?
I feed Kahirah a raw meat diet: 80% meat/10% bone/ 10% organs. Her coat is so soft and teeth so white I just love it. I started with my Lab over 3 years ago with much success even my vet says my girls look great.
My dog trainer laughed when I told him I got a Basenji, he said " you went from a lab who is easy to train and wants to please, to a Basenji who wants to do their own thing." He was right, Sophie my lab is very obedient and Kahirah… not so much! I will add that after 8 weeks of training my trainer said that Kahirah was a great dog even if she didnt listen very well.
As others have posted my vet was also surprised how friendly she is because according to her lots of Basenjis are nippy
I agree I dont like the trimmed look, to me just trimming very little to give it a neat apperance is all thats needed for show.
Thanks all, I think I will just do a light trim on the tail and leave the whiskers as they are.
Do all you trim your Basenji's tail before a show and how much, just a little or a lot. I just think the natural tail looks so much better but if thats what everyone does I guess I will do Kahirah's tail before her first show in November.
