I Know Your Pottytrained but C'Mon!

    Here is a story I wanted to share with everyone. While going through this I am not happy but now I can sit back and laugh :rolleyes:

    When we first brought Chance home a few months ago, we were determined to crate train him at night. About the first week into it we gave in. I lost my sanity. Working full time then going to school in the evenings, you sorta need your sleep and he kept me awake no matter what room we put him in and it didin't matter how much you shoved the ear plugs in your ears…they don't work.
    Chance has learned to love the bed and he takes the WHOLE BED! Pushing my boyfriend to the corner and putting his butt in my face :o

    It's taken sometime and now I can say that he is POTTY TRAINED!!!! He runs to the door and will even do a little dance to let us know its time :D
    EXCEPT FOR THIS ...
    When our little guy gets excited he does a B-500 sprint throughout the entire house and runs and jumps onto the bed and digs and tuggs the pillows. Then he finds a corner (always on my side of the bed) and tinkles. Of course he sprints while he is doing this so I have a pee trail going down my comforter. :mad: No matter what I do he keeps doing this. Even if I take him outside to potty, if excited, he will tinkle on my bed.
    We have even installed a 4 ft tall baby gate in our bedroom to keep him out and it works except for when he gets excited. He doesn't do this on the couch or even on the floor. Just My Bed!!!!!
    WHHHYYYYYYYYYYY??????

    Gosh, it sounds like he might have a marking behavior going on. Is he neutered? I wish I had some advice for you, but, luckily, although I've only had male dogs throughout my life, I haven't experienced in-house marking. I'm sure someone will have some advice.

    You've got my sympathy, that CAN'T be fun. :(

    He won't be neutered until he is 1 year old. At first I thought it was just a "puppy thing" but now I am starting to wonder. I know he can hold his potty but why is it only my bed?

    I think it's a puppy thing cause Abby does it to but not so much when she's excited, she just does it. like one night we were getting ready for bed and she pped on the bed and we had to change everything. she doesn't do it all the time, and she is potty trained she is ten months old this month. i think she does it to mark her space. now she did pee a little on the couch the other evening (thank god for leather) but i think that was cause she's in season and it was just a little. maybe it's just a B thing.

    Dash did that too. So did our beagle. I really don't get it either. We started closing the door so they could not go in there when we weren't in there. We haven't had a problem since. He didn't do it when he was excited either, just when he had to go.

    Sigh, I hate to say it but I'm in the club too. My B Stick, who is a year old now, has been known to pee on our bed. Just like you, he does it when he's really excited not because he has to go. It's been two months since he's last done it though…maybe they grow out of it? Let's cross our fingers and hope that's the case!

    How old is stick? Abby still does it and she is ten months, maybe she will grow out of as well.

    wow! nic memories! Here on my city my sister cant belive that people even stop theirs cars to ask "what breed is your dog"? some people get pictures with the cellphone or with their tablets so a walk with my girls on the downtown is a secure chit chat with the people. A remember 3 ladies, they were so amazing! Maca dont put so much atention on people specially girls, but those ladies was talking to Maca saying she was sooo pretty sooo sweet sooo everything and Maca start to bend those ears and make noises they were more happy and carry on and Maca more and more sweet Whilw They was saying Maca was soo sweet and bla bla and i was thinking.. ha! she is a little naughty and sometimes so dominant.. but that day Maca plays her role to perfection. She deserves a Oscar.. Other day she was confused with a male chihuahua, a lady ask if we can breed our dogs, i said, well is a SHE and is not a chihuahua, the woman start to apologize i dont care well.. i dont like Maca be confused with a male dog, but was funny at the end. But on general people use to think they are like foxies or pitbull or little deer. I said to some kids that i was ironing the tale all days to get curled. They believe it and i was worried they try to iron his own dog, so i said that noooo! that was natural and ironing a dogs tale is a ugly idea. Oh one day i lef Maca with the policeman at the bakerys door ( he was at my sight anyway) and when i was out i found the man with several people asking him if was a police dog or some kind of new police dog because looks so nice and so naughty hahha The poor man have no words and just was smiling while the people was taking picture of him and the dog. lol So the last time that i walked with my sister she was wow! i cant believe it.. the people stoped to ask what breed is.. Yes, my girls are used to some fame.. and i like they socialize with the kids.. not so much with the grown people and with so many thief getting his eyes on pure breed doggies not so nice but well… i said the are naughty some times.

    @DebraDownSouth: Great pictures. :( Krunzer, as the aunt of a niece with Downs Syndome, who has served on coalitions for and MHMR boards, I do want to say the use of "retarded" as a slur is really offensive. I cringe over that use as much as I do the "that's gay" comments, or "Jew down on the price" etc. It's just hurtful. And btw, not singling you out and I have also used words common (like gyped and Indian giver) before I really thought about the connection. Just wanted to share my response, not meant as any type of insult to you personally. I am sorry I guess I just did not think when I was writing it. Thank you for pointing it out and I will try to be more courteous in the future. Sometimes things just come out of my mouth(or typing) and I don't think of the connotations first, I really need to try to be more diplomatic on here and in every day life! :)

    I had nose surgery a few months ago and when I got home I was worried the dogs would be so excited and jump all on me, but it was crazy how mild mannered and dare I say tame/domesticated they were. I swear they knew I was hurt and gave me a day or so of good behavior. They are truly great dogs to own!

    @Kona: Shaye's Mom - That's what I was worried about too with getting a second one, but since we got to do a trial run with Keoki I was able to calm my fears. He is so calm and trustworthy, but he is also 6 years old. Yes, I understand Keoki and Kona are doing really well - wish I'd been at West Park the day you went over - unfortunately, Shaye had been spayed the Friday before, so we missed you, and them. We have been talking with a woman who has a 7 year old Jack Russell female - of course we were going to get her dog almost a year ago, before we got Shaye, and it fell through because she changed her mind, so, who knows, but Shaye really really needs another dog, I think - older, more calm.:rolleyes:

    I live in North Carolina, right on the coast and we have hot, hot, humid summers. Sahara loves to sit on the back steps and lay in the sun, but only after I have frozen her with AC, haha! She hates the cold, when I got her it was still cool nights here and I had a time getting her potty trained b/c she just hated the cold weather. I could not find any dog sweaters to fit her, she was only 8 wks. old, the stores were out of them, so I got smart one night and made her one from the arm of one of my husbands hunting thermal underware. She was much happier then once I got it on her, she hated me putting that thing around her neck and legs. I have her sweaters now, got them 75% off this summer. She hates the rain also, but she has on great ocassion gone on her own to potty while it was downpouring, wonders of wonders, most of the time I have to put a leash on her and pull her outside when it is raining, she will go, but not unless I keep saying, "Go Potty, Sahara". She runs like a mad dog back through her doggie door. Can't wait to see what she does if we have snow this winter, should be interesting.
