    What a beautiful video! Thanks so much for posting it - I've sent it to others I know who will appreciate it. The music is also very nice - must admit I worried a bit toward the end, when the total weight of the seal went over her - good for her ignoring the fishy breath to let the obviously smitten seal love her.

    Hachiko was a famous Akita immortalized for being supremely loyal to his owner, even after he died. I won't give away too much for fear of spoiling the story (though it's common lore amongst Japanese schoolchildren). There's a statue at the Shibuya station in Tokyo commemorating this faithful dog. I haven't seen the American version, but I did see the Japanese version a while back. I'm kind of a sucker for animal movies, and the Japanese tend to churn out some rather amusing ones (Milo & Otis, anyone?). Kind of lukewarm about this one, though.

    Being put to rest was the best thing these animals ever knew - some people don't deserve to breathe. There are tears in my eyes too, for these poor dogs.

    This really is so sad, it sounds like she has family and friends around her who will help her get through this. To lose your husband, your home and your dog is just too much. This woman will be in my thoughts and prayers.
