    When you are a breeder… and you get this email with one of your dog's names in the subject line.. you are thinking..
    oh man... what happened? please don't tell me he/she was hit by a car.. and you just think the worst...
    even before you open the email....

    The babies are doing hunkydory. We put up the tree this weekend, and they are leaving it alone (for now!). However, they are both displaying new and amazing ways to get naughty...

    Ode is quite the athlete. He has perfected a standing leap from the floor to the kitchen counter, 3'2".

    Nu has figured out how to unscrew jar lids. One paw on the jar and push with her nose untill the contents spill out...

    This is hilarious! It is nice to get wonderful messages - from anyone, especially your puppy's owner like this. :)

    The above quote struck me so I have to comment. Duke does this sometimes. Like a flying magic trick he does - from the floor, jumps strait up vertically into the air, propelling himself over a lap, landing on the sofa. It's surprising / shocking - we all look at each other . . . like "Did you see that??" LOL :D

    This is my favorite part! I too emailed my breeder sharing this info with them. I couldn't believe it until I saw C3 UP on the table with NO running start LOL!!

    Ladybasenji, where are you in Quebec? Montreal? We have a place in Gatineau (Aylmer sector) and one of my dogs might even be related to yours. You're experiences with your girl remind me so much of my first basenji, about 20 years ago–it gets easier, I swear! Let me know if you'd like help with Lady--they're nothing like labs and will never be "obedient" but there are tricks for training them : D

    I had nose surgery a few months ago and when I got home I was worried the dogs would be so excited and jump all on me, but it was crazy how mild mannered and dare I say tame/domesticated they were. I swear they knew I was hurt and gave me a day or so of good behavior. They are truly great dogs to own!

    Butu's very quiet, but the other day, we were walking past the church and a lady came out unexpectedly. Well, whatever my boy is, he's not a stoic, so he screamed. Wow, did she jump! I apologised but mentioned, to be fair, that Butu had been startled too. Got one of the nastiest looks I've evr seen ;-)

    Ft. Funston is amazing! Some years back I visited a friend in San Francisco and we took her Husky there several times…doggie heaven! Worth a long drive to go there once in a while! Anne in Tampa, with a few good dogparks, but nothing is like Ft. Funston!
