    Have you tried BRAT? www.basenjiresuce.org

There could be breeders with pups from last year that they might not have placed, but that is a pretty slim chance. You can find responsible breeders in your area at www.basenji.org and then breeder referral

  • First Basenji's

If you are interested in an adorable mix, there's a momma and a whole litter of puppies that are available – with their own FB page!

  • I checked the Brat site and didn't find any Basenjis near Michigan. I've searched tons of Basenji sites with no luck. I was surprised there are such few breeders breeding Basenjis because in my opinion they are one of greatest dogs you could own. I had one for 10 years and he passed away due to diabetes. Now I'm looking for another one. I prefer to find a pure Basenji and not a mix.

While you might not find breeders close to you, you should contact those breeders and see what they might have available.. granted.. might not be close, but transportation can be arranged

  • BRAT may not have all of their dogs listed on the site.

It's not the greatest time of year to get a basenji now as Tanza mentioned, but it is a good time to start talking to breeders for next year.

One of the littermates to my pup may possibly be looking for a home. Although I'd have to check with his breeder, she hasn't mentioned anything recently about placing him so I could be wrong.

  • In know a couple people who foster for BRAt in Mi, there are almost always rescues in MI. Contact the MI POC on the BRAT site and they will let you know when one comes into rescue. I believe Keath has available rescues in Indy.

  • There are breeders in OH that would be listed on the BCOA website. If you are getting a dog from a breeder make sure the dog and/or the parents are health tested.

I am sorry to hear about your boy passing from Diabetes. I have heard about a couple of Bs being diagnosed with Diabetes and not with Fanconi Syndrome lately!
