I have loved Basenji's since my oldest son decided that was the kind of dog he wanted at a young age. Our first (an only at this time) Basenji was Julia in 2003/2004. We adopted this beautiful mix from BRAT. She was so energetic and my son loved her so much. We lived in an apartment and I had an L-shaped couch and she would do what my son and I called the "Basenji 500" where she would run at full speed in circles around the apartment, but every time she got to the couch it was like watching NASCAR the way she would turn the corner on the back of the couch like she was banking the turn. It was my favorite thing that she did. When we had Julia, we lived in the Greater Houston, TX area. Just before Hurricane Ike hit the coast in 2007, Julia died from cancer. We were very sad. My son is now grown and off on his own, so I would like to get another Basenji for me. I'm not sure I'm ready for a puppy, more prefer an old timer...
