  • Awe pretty dogs! 2 of my favorite breeds!! :) :) Thank you for sharing Suzee! :)

  • Suzee - great video of two dogs that obviously love to play with one another. It's so cute how Congo plays/runs and turns to look back to make sure his friend is chasing him!

  • Wow, he's pretty energetic for 11yrs!

right?! it was hilarious because for the first 15 minutes Congo was just being a drama queen and wanted nothing to do with kapo. but i picked congo up and gave him some lovin' and put him down, then he was like ok.. i guess i'll play. =)

and congo is in great shape for 77 dog years.. i really lucked out with him!!

  • LOL poor Pit never had a real chance.

  • Very cute, but the b sure did get dog drool in his back.

Shaye also loves playing with the big dogs - if they aren't paying attention to her she annoys them until they chase her, and it's all fun and games from that point - and my b definitely has to be sprayed off before we leave the dogpark, because she usually is coated with dog drool on her head, neck and back. Her favorite two friends are an 18 month old female Rhodesian Rideback named Charlie (a girl) and a 2 year old doberman named Ruthie - sometimes they play together and ignore Shaye, then she tries to break them up and they are a very unevenly matched threesome running after each other. Fun to watch.

Hi everyone, Thanks for all of your replies! Rex just had his first vet visit (first with me at least), and he was given a clean bill of health. The vet that I saw also agrees with a lot of you that he looks like a Min Pin more than a Basenji, but he is likely still mixed with something because he's a bit too big to be a pure Min Pin. I've looked at a few DNA Dog Breed tests online, and they seem to range in price and in quality. It seems like some of the cheaper (~$50) tests are fake, but they go all the way up to almost $250 for the higher quality ones. Do any of you have experience with these DNA tests / have a brand you found reputable? I'll be sure to post the results of any of the tests with this forum! Thanks again, and Rex is doing really great in his new home!! [image: 1559586518913-img_3707-resized.jpg] [image: 1559586546977-img_3720-resized.jpg] [image: 1559586568474-img_3708-resized.jpg]

You had me confused and then I realized you meant the write up on the other rescue (Okapi)… I like less white also. So I had to go look... wow, coloring reminds me of minpins. :) Cute dog though.

There are now DNA tests available that can pinpoint what your dog might be genetically. Some companies can only do 30 or so breeds but most advertise well over 150. Why should you care - well it is a way to know what sorts of things healthwise you should be on the lookout for as many breeds have unique health issues. I was at the vet last year and there was a puggle there with an eye issue - the owners shared what it was and it is common in beagles. They then went on to say that they had trouble with the other eye before and it was an issues specific (although not exclusive) to pugs. So much for hybrid vigor. Darling picture though - good luck

Thank you very much for the info. I will have to try the time out. He was crate trained as far as being house broken, but now when I put brownie in the crate all he does is whine.. I do have 2 older dogs. one that plays with him and the other, well he just growls at brownie. The mother that was there when I got Brownie was a white shepard, maybe that is where the broad nose comes in.
