Post me privately (after you have read my website (thanks for the plug, Redial !)) and I will sendyou a list of the Breed Club secretaries. There are quite a few litters on the ground this winter bit I imagine most are sold or at least bespoke. You may need to get on a list for next season.
Basenji puppies!
-
Hi all. Im new to the forum but i was just wondering if someone could help me out. How much does a Basenji puppy usually cost?
Thanks -
In the UK you would pay between ?500-700 for a puppy.
-
I paid 800 euros from my pup in 2008.Remember purchasing a dog isn't bargain shopping and look for up to date health testing for both parents.
-
On the West Coast from a responsible breeder, pups can range from 900.00 to 1200.00 depending on the breeder.

Why do you ask how much a Basenji puppy usually costs? Do you have one in mind? It's very difficult to give a price because breeders here don't seem to be consistent in what they charge (it seems it may be a bit different in other countries). Also its not always a matter of quality - some breeders offer a lot more than just a puppy - it could include collar, feeding bowl, crate amongst other things. The main thing is to buy from responsible breeders who are always available to give plenty of advice at any stage of life and are also willing to take back the Basenji (again at any stage of life) should you decide you can't keep him/her.

Welcome to the forum. You will find a lot of good info here.

Price did not come into the equation when we were looking for our basenji. We had an idea of what the cost would be. More important to us was the breeder, their dogs, the testing they do and the willingness to take back a dog for whatever reason were what sold us. We wanted a good hearted, ethical breeder. Luckily we found one. Hats off to those breeders who truly care about the Basenji.

I agree, price should be the last consideration IMO - type, temperment, health and suitability should come before that

Yes i have been very interested for a long time. Iv been in contact with a Breeder from England for a while now and they are expecting a summer litter. While iv been speaking to the breeder i feel comfortable that she will be more than helpful and is willing to all of the above. Like you said the price was the last thing on your mind, this goes for me too. I was just wondering along the lines so i could save to buy my puppy.
Thanks for the help
