Xander and I have been taking a rally class for the last 5 weeks. He gets so excited when we arrive and really loves the class. The instructors sister had basenjis so she knows just where to rub to get him to melt. We entered a rally trial at the Sedalia show this weekend and Xander surprised the heck out of me by qualifying. Looking forward to another weekend of rally mid August.

Will see how he does next month, that trial is in an indoor soccer field on astro turf. My whippet refused to sit on that stuff her first trial there, I had to come back and do a practice with her so show her you could sit on stiff grass. I'm taking all 4 of them there this weekend to get measured for agility trials, so hopefully I can get to the grass and do some practice sits and downs with Xander.

Thank you. This weekend we went to an agility trial to watch and Xander was very interested in watching the jumps. He measured at 17 1/8 and Trog measured at 15 7/8. Hopefully in a few yrs they will both be competing in agility too. He starts rally advanced class next week.

Went to another rally trial in the thunderstorms tonight, Xander earned his second Q. He was the only hound entry of the 32 dogs and held his own with the border collies and GSDs. Not to be outdone, Trog is now going thru rally class with our eyes on 4 days of rally trials over labor day at a show we are attending for the whippet specialty.

Even better news, one of my instructors, who was competing with me, said they are going to start nose work classes at the school late fall. I see more fun in the boys future:)

Congrats! It is a lot of work to get a basenji to do something that takes their nose off the ground. But the ground training should be interesting

Good to see a Basenji giving those BCs and GSDs a run for their money!!! Well done you and Xander! Looking forward to hearing more of your successes in the future.
