So I am crate training Watson and he is having difficulty adjusting.

He does well when I put him in and he knows we are in another room for a short time…there is some whining but nothing else.

If we leave the house though even only for an hour he gets so anxious there is always a big mess when we get home and he needs a bath.

What can I do to make this easier for him?

It's our job to anticipate when they might need to potty, and take them outside. Absolutely! And they learn very quickly if there is consistency in taking them outside. My girl Tamu learned in less than two weeks, and she was very young when we got her (7 weeks, which is not recommended, but my 7 year old girl, Lady, pretty much adopted her and taught her manners).

Our dogs do wander in and out of each other crates. They will even lay down in the others crates. Having said that, I am of the opinion that each dogs individual crate should be their own safe place. I know our Boston uses hers as a place to retreat when she does not wish to be bothered by the Basenji or just senses she needs to be out of the way. Roo our Basenji actually seems to respect that and will usually leave her be. Of course her crate is smaller so it would be difficult for both of them to be in it at once. Jason

Thanks. http://www.omahavaccine.com/ Omaha Vaccine.. many times you can get shipping for free depending on the size of your order… and I like the General Cage for crates... and if you want a great crate pad or just a pad in general, look at the Bully Pads.... they are great and last like crazy.... and wash really easy... I use them especially for whelping... turned Lisa onto the too... even her "ripper" has a hard time destroying them.
