Otis will do the same thing..piling it up into a ball, and then just lays ontop of it, doesn't look very comfy, but he swears by it..our podengo does it as well..

  • Mine all do it also.

  • @Maya:

Is this a basenji thing or have i just got a weird one?
    QUOTE]

I must have the weird ones because mine don't do it. Although I do think they are trying to dig to Australia sometimes.

  • I think it is a Dog thing, maybe from when they were wild and had to scratch up leaves, twigs, dirt etc to make a comfy bed

  • Mine does it but also likes to dig. Just recently had to flip a couch cushion over because he had dug through the fabric.

It's his one spot where he likes to sleep while I'm away.

  • Its weird cos none of my other dogs have ever done it..

She is currently fast asleep on a pile of cushions!

  • Yes mine all do it. Interestingly when I got caught outdoors in a snow storm when out walking several Basenjis, one of mine went under a bush and dug herself a burrow in the earth. Probably this is what I call, a race memory.

  • Mine digs halfway to China trying to make the perfect nest. Takes at least 10 minutes to get it right. Sometimes she sends the sofa pillows flying across the room!

  • First Basenji's

Cody makes nests, but he also makes a cave. He'll pile all the pillows and blankets on my bed in such a way that he makes a nice comfy bed, but he also has a pile behind him and a little on top of him.

    :D:D:D

AJ tries to dig up every area that's his to sleep in. Lately, his favorite place to dig is in front of the passenger seat where I have it built up for him. I keep my computer under there, so I have to stop him before he gets that far.
