    • RE: Looking for basenji puppy in California, southern Oregon, or western Nevada

I have had one puppy out of the seven Basenjis. The other six have been adopted from BRAT (Basenji Rescue and Transport) or from breeders I found through clubs. My current two I adopted from breeders I found through a Portland club. You can google Basenji clubs California and start contacting breeders.

I had one puppy and would not want to repeat the experience. At 4 to 6 years Basenjis start to mellow. For a Basenji that means they found one piece of furniture to chew on instead of all your furniture or cabinets or walls...

On the left is Shankara Naryana (RIP 2004? to 2020 [BRAT adoption from a nebraska puppy mill]). His namesake was an 8th century indian mathematician who advocated the use of the hindu-arabic numbering system, developed base 10 and zero as a place holder. The numbers we use today (1 thru 10 or 0 thru 9; however you want to look at it).

Second hand clothing stores. Little kids hoodies. If your fur kid trashes it...who cares. It was maybe 10 bucks

My old man did not deal with Boise winters. I went to the the salvation army and bought him a little kids hoodie. He liked it and was never bothered by the hood occasionally falling over his head. He learned to flip it back.

    • Looking for a 4-6 yo Basenji

      Hi,

I live in Boise and have lived with? tormented by? Basenjis for about 30 years. I am currently looking to adopt another Basenji about 2 to 6 years old.

My current Basenji is a 6 year old sterile male. Some time ago our pack mate had a stroke and died. She was about 14. We are both keen on adopting another pack member.

    • RE: Looking

My past adoptions have been indirectly through Evergreen or Willamette Basenji Clubs. One of my adoptions was half Canadian.
It's been someone who knows someone. It might be worth a query.
