@hdolbow: yeah definately. mia's a handful and rockys got a serious attitude sometimes, but i could NEVER even THINK of getting rid of them. I think some people just want companionship and because B's are tiny and quieter than normal dogs.. they think PERFECT for apartments and cities! but they dont know anything about them. unless you have the time to take them places, you cant keep them cooped up in a house all day with no outside exercise and expect them to be happy/cooperate with you. they dont have anything better to do than chew stuff up. at least thats how i feel Yes and these people lived in an apartment in the city… so my first question to them was "are you ready make the time to walk a dog?"...

@youngandtired: I was wondering if that girl that was on the forum that lost her B ever found him. Her mother had the dog and it got loose, she was so sad about it. Does anyone know? She posted about a week ago (maybe two) that he hasn't been found yet

@Punky: The story I got on Sawyer from BRAT was that he was purchased by an elderly couple in their 80s. I read a thread on here about someone asking about a Basenji in a pet store and what the pet store told them….small, no barking, clean, low/non shedding....sounds like a great dog for someone in their 80s. Too bad that isn't what they really bought. He sheds, he is very vocal, he is very agile, and he is dominate and stubborn:rolleyes: But I love him to death. So typical for our breed… the fact that they don't bark, per say, people take as mute... and we all here know that is way beyond true... along with shedding... they do shed usually just not like a Lab or Dal types.... and they forget about the part that they are a hound.. as in independent and needs stimulation ..... or they will find their own... not really unlike something like a border or aussie... except for the fact that those with training are pretty usually obedient... a Basenji is a thinking dog.. and answers every command with "What is in it for me?"

@luvsmy2bs: REally? You dont think the markings and tail are B like? I don't see Basenji; never would have occurred to me to list it that way. BUT, it is an adorable pup and I hope it finds a good forever home ASAP.

This is the type of venue that might be the key to get these dogs a home. Most of us are basenji loves and we have friends who "might" work for some of the dogs posted here. I do so hope so!

I emailed them as well. She said Sally is in a very loving foster home until she finds the perfect home so luckily she is in a safe warm place.

This type of venue will help new folks see that all dogs aren't "perfect" but we love them anyway. I so hope she is rehomed soon.
