He looks like a sweetheart…you can tell he's looking at someone he is fond of. Unfortunately I have a boy of my own that loves his mommy a little too much to share. The old ones melt my heart, but he looks like a young nine. Hope he finds a very loving mom who will adore him as much as he will adore her

What is it with people? Why do these aging angels just get tossed aside. This makes me madder than hell!
-
I agree, how sad is that….
-
I agree. however, i am heartened by my believe that karma's a b!tch and what goes around, comes around. Unfortunately probably not in time to do this poor pup any good. I hope she finds a good home to cherish her like an old dog should be.

By "what goes around comes around," I envision this poster's children putting him/her in a nursing home and basically abandoning her in her old age because she's gotten too "cranky" to deal with "young whippersnappers."
Maybe that's harsh, but that's the lesson being taught here. One can "dispose of" a personality they no longer like rather than seeing a life through to the end with a sense of dignity, compassion, and possibly some additional medical care…

Not too harsh in my estimate.

I agree with all that's been posted - my own thoughts are so bad I wouldn't want to post them here.
-
How or why could you do that to a dog you've had since she was a puppy? I'd do almost anything to have my basenji back that I had for ten years.

It's like giving away a memeber of your family!!!
Has anyone contacted Sharron????

Unfortunately, this happens more than you could guess - people wanting rescue to take their 10 - 15 year old basenji they raised from a pup. Excuses such as lifestyle changes, all the children moved out and the dog has no one to play with, moving to a place that does not allow dogs, just tired of taking care of the dog, the dog needs someone that can give him a happier life, and my most favorite one - we remodeled the house and she doesn't match the furniture any more. I just hate people sometimes.

I really don't understand this….10 is when they finally get to be easy to live with! How do you close your heart off from a dog you cared for for 10 years...and think she will be happy to live with someone new?
I really hope Karma IS a bitch...a mean one...

I agree with Debbie J…. I too have seen this and it just totally floors me... When they get to be 13-17 (depending).... it does get a bit rough... but they have give you the best years of their lives as you loving companion.... when it becomes their time in need.. I just can't image "throwing" them away.... sure it gets hard... I have been though losing my oldest at 17+, 16+, and 15+.... and yes it was stressful at time for the humans... but would I ever change anything? NEVER..... so what if they have accidents and pee on the floor because they can't remember they need to go out... that is why they made things to clean with... and getting up ever 3 hours during the night to take them out so they didn't have to soil themselves or their bedding (usually our bed, oh and rubber back mattress pads are a must!)... is not a hardship... it is an act of love ..... for all the love they have and still give us in their golden years....

I tried to make contact with this person and no go..I don't get this type of thinking.
But her children are learning how to deal with the parents, when they get old and troublesome…
