Dog Days Of Summer

Show Off Your Dog
  • The heat this summer in Georgia has been unbearable. Dolce has worn a path in the hardwood floors from her constantly going in and out to seek warmth and then back in the AC to cool down. These are the days I kick myself for teaching her to ring the bell to go out and come in because it never stops.

Here is a quick video of her lounging outside in her favorite spot.

  • That's adorable! She didn't seem to be bothered by the camera at all… She was getting her "beauty nap."

  • Hope she doesn't need a doggy chiropractor when she wakes up!

  • I am always amazed at how they can sleep with their necks draped over something hard like that…but they do it so must feel good. Looks like she has beat the heat, at least for awhile.

Very cute video - I can sympathize with the bell business - we taught ours to ring a bell as well, and after a while, took the bells down. It got to the point Shaye was ringing it constantly, simply because she wanted to go out - had nothing to do with NEED.

  • LOVE the pose, with the front legs outstretched! It's amazing what positions basenjis find comfortable. Thanks for sharing.

Looks like he is doing great at the dog park and with the other dogs - nice pictures, all of them! Gotta love the lhasa in the bright red coat - aren't we all thrilled we don't have to keep up with hair like that?!?

@tanza: They are not wild "wicked" women…gggg... I know of a few "mellow" ones.. and usually I have found, it is the boys that are pretty wild in their younger years, more then the girls most of the time. There is stuff you can buy to put on her pads to protect them while they toughen up... and she would be one for sure that I would be very careful with on pavement/roads/sidewalks in the summer when the sun has really hot... that is what can really bother their feet, tough or not.. The 2 females I had were tough and devoted. Good point about the heat. That hot pavement is a killer and I don't think people realize it either.

I loved Mammoth Lakes! My B/W Nika was like that. Always looking for the spot to jump over the water. Did not like walking on wet grass. She'd tolerate a bath now and then as long as the water was nice and warm.

I looked up the dates for LGRA in August in Oberlin and I will on vacation that week in NC. I would like to meet up with you for a play date one weekend. Cody gets his staples out on Tues. (yeah) So after that I would be free most weekends until Aug 20. If you have suggestions on dog parks to go to let me know.

Nexa is full af. and she is very cautious in new situations. She is curious and wants to say hi to every dog or person we see, but if they approach her she will back away. The introductions have to go at her pace. We were on a walk the other day and she was desperate to investigate a cat laying in someone’s driveway. She just stood there staring at the cat from 5-6 feet away, as soon the cat came towards her she tucked her tail and ran like it was a lion after her. The cat might have weighed 8 pounds wet. She is wary, but with her curiosity she just can’t let things go.
