I don't know anything about this vet, but will he not work with you on payment? Many vets will treat dogs in urgent need on a payment plan or for a discounted rate. The vet does have some money upfront. Perhaps you could work out some sort of payment schedule for the balance or put part of the bill on a credit card, so the surgery can be done? If not, maybe another vet could be more flexible. Leaving the dog at the facility on IVs seems like it might make the bill larger and prolong the dog's discomfort or pain. You're in a hard spot, and I wish both you and your poor dog the best.

I wish it was easier to find out about rescues in England -
She is such a pretty dog! We'd love to know what her personality is like…has anyone gone and adopted this pup yet??

I just wanted to say that, as a past rescue person, fast placements do not neccesarily equate good placements. I personally prefer it when a rescue group isn't in a rush to rehome a dog. When they take their time to find just the right match for the dog, the rehoming is statistically more successful. In ther words, don't fret. The right home will come along for her when it is meant to.

One thing that I have learned in life is to accept that things are not all black or all white. Life is shades of gray and just because someone sees a different shade of gray than you do, it doesn't mean their shade is right or wrong, its just different. ~ Robyn Dubbert
I like it!
I agree, that the rescue group is doing a fine job finding the right home. I'm not rushing to apply, but I'm so tempted. My most recent three rescues have come a long way and are finally content. For the past year, I've spent a good portion of my time helping my Basenji rescues learn to overcome their quirks, fears, and issues. Life is good right now.
My three older dogs have been marvelous through all of this Basenji fever I've had, and I love them for it.

I did it! Application sent today.

Vicki and all others who are interested - here is something for you to consider for Heartworm preventative.
http://www.heartwormprevention.com/
This guy sells a bottle of diluted Ivermect (what we used to use before heartworm pills) and the measuring dropper - for $25.00 I can do all my dogs for almost 2 years.
That would be a bit better I think. It's safe - I've used it for years - or actually mixed my own version of this - but this is more convenient.
-
Thank you for information on heartworm prevention. That will save money.
Vicki your crazy but you got a large heart.
