    Hey Everyone,

    My name is Michelle and I'm so excited to have come across this forum! I live in Michigan and am the human slave to 2 little basenjis. One is Tayda (short for Potato) , a female red and white that I got a year and a half ago from a breeder in Kentucky. And the other is Lenny (named after the character from John Steinbecks Of Mice and Men), a male brindle I got from a breeder here in Michigan about 9 months ago.

    Hi Michelle - Welcome to this forum and enjoy. I am also in Michigan - Livonia. I think I met your Howell breeder at the Pet Expo in November. She had a pack of Basenjis with her. That was the first time I saw another Basenji in person. My Basenji Duke was found abandoned last March - so I brought him home. He was about 12 weeks old at the time. Found out his breed when he was 6 mos. old. He is very much like having a small child at home - Our home is Basenji proofed at best. Lenny seems like a handful as well. Your B's are also beautiful.

    Hey Quercus - Yup thats right! one from Meisterhaus and the other from Kelli!

    And Duke - That was in fact Kelli, Lenny's breeder in Howell that was at the Pet Expo… She has a nice pack of dogs... just had new puppies too!

    @ErinElisabeth: Yeah, I'm not sure about the dad… And yes, we had tested for fanconi awhile ago. Hi I got a beautiful Red and White girl from Glenn at Sundance also. We also live in Michigan. How is your Jack doing? My girl Kobi, is awesome. I did not meet Jack's mom when we picked up Kobi, but I met Black and White Harley, he was an awesome Basenji. Thats your Jack's dad right? Christine

    I look forward to your pictures. I'm a technophobe too - I keep telling myself I can do it but so far haven't posted any. One of my bitches was spoiled for the show ring by such a judge who didn't know how to approach a hound (although he was a Saluki judge and should have!). She was experienced at showing as well but was traumatised because when she backed away at his front on, silly voice approach she nearly fell from the table! Of course she blamed the fall on his approach. I worked on her intensively but to no avail. Yes, Basenjis on the whole are friendly and they never forget a friend either!

    First off, Welcome to our site of valueable Basenji information. I have learned so much linking into this site, we have lots of laughs as well. My B, Sahara, crosses her legs all the time, she is such a showoff and often has the regal queen look. I love the look myself, they are such beautiful dogs I must say, not that I am partial or anything. Your Piper is so cute, welcome again.
