Welcome Judy and Marie. I am happy she found you. I am sure with lots of reassurance and slow movements over time she will become less jumpy. Just let her know daily that you will not hurt her and give her lots of kisses and hugs..

One thing that I have learned with shy rescues... let them come to you... don't push the issue.... and with any luck, she will be food motivated.. that will help lots... -

Welcome to the forum! Where in Virginia are you located? Have you had dogs before? Basenjis? We'd love to know more and see pictures! One of my dogs is a rescue & we're in Virginia too. Can't wait to hear about your adventures with your new dog! Congrats!
We are in Fairfax and we have always had 2 dogs, this is our first Basenji. Marie is a rescue dog from Lost Dogs and Cats Rescue Foundation.
