I cannot imagine committing to buy a puppy without seeing the animal and if possible the sire and dam. OTOH, a rescue (or adoption of an older dog) is a different thing. My last two Basenjis came to me sight unseen, and turned out to be wonderful dogs, but the breeders I got them from wanted to place their dogs in an experienced Basenji home, and I only paid the cost of getting the dogs to me. One came by air, one was personally transported to me by his breeder. If she hadn't been happy with what she found I expect she would have taken him back with her when she left. I also had to commit to return him if ever I couldn't keep him. Good breeders care about where their dogs end up.

I lost one puppy to cleft pallette - once 11 years ago - the cleft was so far back you could not easily see it but it affected his ability to suckle and no amount of hand feeding was going to do anything so we had to put him down. Even the vet was crying.
I'm sorry to hear about your little ones loss.

Thank you all for the replies. At least with the little man we lost it was quick, he went downhill very suddenly. And he died asleep, snuggled up to his mum… Poor little man..
BUT, the other 5 are thriving. Gracie is just being the best mum, she loves her babies and is so proud of them. These pictures were taken about 10 mins ago! Im off work for a week now on puppy sitting duty, im loving it! Expect loads of pics lol

Thanks all
They are turning into proper little pugs now. Their nose pigment has come through SO quickly (i have been told that some dont have their full nose pigment through at 10 weeks so these have been very quick!!), everyone has their eyes fully open and their cheeky characters are coming through now. They come waddling over if you go near the box and climb over each other to try to get attention when you pick one up A couple are having a go at standing/walking as you can see in the pics, and all the tails are starting to go up and over. Im told they start to curl at about 5 weeks.
Anyway, pics taken about half an hour ago:
Edited to add these few i forgot to upload!!
