I had my mother drop off her springer spaniel yesterday for a handful of hours. We were testing out Kananga and her getting along in case she needed me to watch over her dog (her other dog does not get along with Kananga, both will go for each others throats).
Anyways, she's the submissive type and is not aggressive, so I thought it would be interesting. Last time I brought Kananga over to her home, he was not in the mood to play (curious about a new environment) and she was pestering him to play.
This time it was the opposite. I've never seen Kananga so playful with another dog. I'm guessing it's because he's comfortable in his home and would rather play. Although I have to admit, I can understand why some other dogs get a bit tired of Basenjis. He was running across the room and hitting her with his paw, jumping up trying to nip at her to get her to play, but he then realized she was not a fan of this and she let out a growl/bark for him to back off. The look on his face was priceless.
That lasted for 5 minutes and then he was right back to running across the room and tormenting her. He had a big smile on his face the entire time. It makes me want another Basenji. :o
It's really funny how they use their paws. He did eventually calm down and lay next to her, but every time she'd get up he'd be back at hitting her in the face with his paw.
