Fight with a cat - Lenny injured?

    So the vet prescribed clavamox and rimadyl which i gave to lenny when we got home. he's been pretty much lethargic and sleeping all evening, and i just picked him up to take him upstairs and noticed his ears seem unusually hot. he has been curled up in a ball in his dog bed so that could have something to do with it, but i'm not sure.

    i called the vet and she says neither drug should cause an elevated temperature, or lethargic behavior.

    maybe he's just recovering from the excitement of the day, but he seems way less lively and his ears are hotter than normal. unfortunately i don't have a thermometer otherwise i'd take his temp properly. i was just comparing them to Tayda's ears and thought they seemed warmer.

    When Phoenix got into a fight a few mths back with his brother My vet prescribed the same thing and it made Phoenix sleepy it's the pain killers i believe that do it cuz when he was done with them he was back to his ole self again . i wouldnt worry too much maybe just the excitment from the vet the fight and the meds. He's not throwing up right ? But i would say it's the pain meds that are making him lethargic..

    I hope he feels better soon !!!!

    We have two cats and two Basenji?s, but the basenji?s grew up with the oldest cat. They live togehter as a family, but the first meeting between Buana (oldest Basenji) and Spaik (oldest cat) was heavy Spaik was so mad at us he went under the bed and didn't show himselfe, when Buana got to close he hit Buana. Cats usually need time to get used to them, for you I think you need to watch them the first weeks constantly. From their behavior you can see how it's goint between them

    My 3 b's like me to go outside in the yard with them at night. They sure don't stay outside for long! I do think they have a bit of fear of the dark.

    Yeah. I think I have done everything to Basenji proof the house, but he always seems to come up with something I never thought of. I guess that's how you learn. Luckily he wasn't hurt… well maybe just his ego.

    Kiro Gurl, That's a great pic. I have a bay window on which my 2 are constantly watching the goings on in the neighborhood. Someone in the house will say, "where's the dogs?" and the inevitable reply is "they're on Neighborhood Watch duty." Needless to say we are alerted to every unwanted intruder…..marauding cats, wilily squirrels, and those despicably lawless off leash dogs (with the occasional 'bad to the bone' large wild bird thrown in for good measure;) ) sigh, I feel sooooo safe. I thank Darwin every day that they don't have opposable thumbs 'cuz they'd be unlocking and opening the door for anyone they deemed as a suitable playmate, tummy scratcher, or cuddler:D ! Now that you have a 'window watcher' too, I suggest you invest in windex. There's nothing better to get those dog snot streaks off the windows!! (BTW...welcome to the forums toddsgirl)

    My cat was here for nearly 15 years before I got my B puppy. The puppy of course wants to play, and the cat hates her with a passion. The cat stands her ground and growls, hisses, spits and goes after Shaye with claws raking - the one thing that perhaps is going to save my B is that she is learning the "leave it" command, and is starting to ignore the cat when I give the command. They will never be friends, but eventually I'm hoping the dog ignores the cat through the "leave it" command. The command is even beginning to save my couch, pillows, chair legs, etc., etc. - keep at it!

    =) That sounds much like our place just not nearly as spacious. Well, they appear to have been calmer but they're probably just messing with my mind.
