I cannot imagine committing to buy a puppy without seeing the animal and if possible the sire and dam. OTOH, a rescue (or adoption of an older dog) is a different thing. My last two Basenjis came to me sight unseen, and turned out to be wonderful dogs, but the breeders I got them from wanted to place their dogs in an experienced Basenji home, and I only paid the cost of getting the dogs to me. One came by air, one was personally transported to me by his breeder. If she hadn't been happy with what she found I expect she would have taken him back with her when she left. I also had to commit to return him if ever I couldn't keep him. Good breeders care about where their dogs end up.

So exciting news! I just signed a purchase contract for a house in CT. The house has a PERFECT basenji yard!!!!!! AND there is an awesome dog park about half a mile away that we can go to to socialize…. I can't wait! Tentative closing is on July 28th...
Tayda and Lenny are going to LOVE it!!!!

I know. Ridiculous, isn't it?? The yard was really a huge selling point! Of course it will be great for relaxing on the deck and bbq'ing etc etc for me and my HUMAN friends (lol) - but the B's will love it. Here is another one of the rooms, the family room… with a big window overlooking the yard. One of my first thoughts when I walked in, was "how can i put a doggy door in one of the side windows in the picture window... so i can let them go in and out while i'm watching t.v. "

this was how we almost chose our house. Only one direct neighbour and a more than 1000 square meters big garden which we directley fenced 1,80 m high. Well, the house was not bad either, but more important was the location of the house and the garden. No city limits, no one to tell you what you do and what you don't.
