  • To all those basenji pals who are active, reserve, or retired miliatary … a great big thank you! To those currently serving and away from your basenji, a great big barroooooo!

  • Thank you! My husband and I both did 20 years and my youngest son goes into the Air Force next week :o( Good thing the furkids aren't going anywhere…

  • Thank you Wizard, I did 11 years in the Navy (9 years active, 2 years in the reserve) and DH is still in. We went to Arlington Cemetery this weekend and it is something I think everyone should do if they get the chance, there are so many buried there that have sacrificed for our country. I was honored to have served.

The only Linus reference I know of is Linus Schlumpberger (sp?) who runs the Operations at UPS. Yes, an entire wheel can be lost. It is the driver's responsibility to check lug nuts and look behind the wheels to be sure everything looks good. I was on I-15 in Utah a few years ago and saw two tires, still attached to each other in the median. About half a mile further, there was a truck sitting with a bare axle end. Also, some very few drivers carry their spare tire pre-mounted on a wheel. This may have been the case and the driver lost it off his catwalk.

@thunderbird8588: Unfortunately i missed it, am hoping it may be repeated. I bought myself one of his CDS yesterday. I feel so sorry for his kids, everyone seems to have an opinion as to who should have custody. I hope someone actualy asks the kids what they think. RIP Michael I think I heard on the news (within 2 days of MJ's death) that they asked the oldest son and he said he wanted to stay with his grandmother. It will be horrible if they end up with someone they don't even know.

I grew up in Indiana where they get lots of snow but here in Alabama people don't know how to drive in it. We're in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains and it's very hilly. Everything stops when it snows, schools close, etc. All they have to do is mention the S word in the forecast and in two hours you can't find a loaf of bread or gallon of milk anywhere. In March 1993 we actually did have the Blizzard of the Century and we got 21 inches of snow and ice. I got snowed in at work (I'm a nurse and work in a hospital) for 5 days. My son was 15 then and he was home by himself because I couldn't get there. He got bored and tried walking down the hill and the National Guard picked him up and took him back home!
