  • Hi folks:

We are Sid and Sue Sher, located in Northern Virginia, near Manassas. We have 4 Basenjis, one male Travis (age 9) and 3 females named, Skye (age 9) (Travis's littermate), Sophie (age 5) and Seeker (almost 3 and littermate to the famed Redmund). We are Redmund's breeders.

We show and sometimes lure course with our Basenjis but most of all they are our companions and buddies.

We were just to a Google search of Redmund and stumbled on the forum. We only live about 30 minutes from Pearmund Cellars and, being retired, would love to meet other Basenji admirers at the winery, if you just let us know. We were just out there this week with Seeker and she and Redmund played like they have never been apart.

When we visit Pearmund's Redmund will run out to our car and put his feet on the bumper to see if we've brought his sister. He remembers our car from visit to visit.

We'll try to post some pictures in the future.

  • Welcome to the forum…......enjoy!

Welcome! I – we -- hope to see photos soon!

I wish I'd heard of Redmund -- is there a story behind his "fame".

Our dogs also remember their breeder. Jazzy, in particular, can barely contain her joy when she sees Bryan. Sometimes I feel like she loves him best :( . Keoki is always happy to see him, also. It's amazing how well they remember and how close the bond remains.

  • WOOHOO… hey there Sid and Sue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Welcome!!!!!

@DebraDownSouth thank you. I have been in touch with some breeders fpund of BCOA, a couple of them expecting to have puppies in Nov, and ready to be in their new home by Jan next year. But i have not checked rescue basanji and BRATso will definitely explore these sites.

That was a great story. My 12 year old Welsh Corgi did the same thing a couple of years ago. The vet watched her but she wasn't sick. Didn't learn from experience either - thankfully I did. I just recently "rescued" a Basenji from a puppy mill. Her name is Glory - my 6 year old Granddaughter really liked the name. Glory is wonderful but I have never seen a puppy clutter up a room as fast as she can. My 4 year old Corgi hides under the computer desk when Glory goes on one of her "rampages."
