@jordandwilly - Thanks for clearing that up.... 9-5 is just fine, IMO.... I work and have always had to leave mine when I was at work, never an issue. That said, we were able to set up the house that access to the backyard (with 10 to 12' privacy fences) with a doggy door and a dog room in the house for them, Locks on the gates so there is NO access for anyone. Dogs sleep 90% of the day so being at work doesn't bother them... never have mine even when I had a litter in the house (And have been in the breed as owner/breeder for 35+ years). You can hire a dog walker to take them out mid day..which is a good solution. and give them a mid day meal depending on their age. I do not and never have used free feeding, period. Especially if you have more that one... you never know what/who is eating what. And you can set up camera's on line to watch them from "afar".... LOL. Keep in mind people that many of us need to work and have day jobs. The most important thing is the time you need to spend with them when you are home. Example would be, if you have young children and you work... when you get home you are going to spend your time with your human children... NO dog would be happy if left out... they need their time also because they are a family member and need as much time as a human child. Again in my opinion
What did you get your B for Christmas?

Is that a California club?
Every year the Rip Van Wrinkle Basenji Club has a Santa Paws gift exchange. Basenjis get their humans to sign them up for the exchange and then they are matched up with another basenji family and gifts are exchanged.

I have a $25 gift certificate to PetsMart but haven't gotten a chance to go yet. Senji's birthday is on the 30th, so I'll need to get him something for that too. My nieces bought him some sort of raw-hide pizza shaped thing. I don't think it agrees with him. Luckily he's only had 2 pieces of it. He likes to help open the presents, then shreads everything into tiny bits. I have a Santa outfit for him, so he'll be "Senji-Claus" for tomorrow.

You must post pictures of this! LOL!
I tried to take photos of Chase (my Puggle) in a Santa costume and Zahra in a reindeer costume, Zahra would not let me anywhere near her with the reindeer costume and Chase let me put his on but just stood there like a statue humiliated. Zahra eventually came to her brother's rescue by ripping the Santa hat and beard combo off him and jumping up on the chair to chew on it.
I had video taped Chase's torture and Zahra's defiance (I missed getting her ripping the hat and beard off on video tape though) so DH could see it when he came home which he in turn made into a video that we have shown to friends set to Christmas music it is entitled "Animal Abuse 101 by Jenn".
I have a Santa outfit for him, so he'll be "Senji-Claus" for tomorrow.

The Rip Van Wrinkle Basenji club is actually based in NY. I met the lady when we went lure coursing…

She sent me a "Wrinkler" newsletter in the mail - seems they have some basenji events periodically… sounds fun!

Actually it is a New York club. They have many members from all over the country. They have a great newsletter.

Sahara got chew treats and a nice stuffed squirrel that she really loves. I also got the laser light, she didn't care for it as well. She didn't think it was a big deal at all, Mom will return it. She also got a beautiful martingale collar that Majestic Collars handmade. It was made with Russian brocade material, lined in silk. She really looks regal in this, I will have to take her picture and share it here.

I posted our pics under Miles: A Rescue
But we did the Dogster Basenji gift exchange and it was a lot of fun…

Various stuffed toys some of which have already suffered some damage to ears, eyes, arms and legs. Some chew treats and a great Holiday dinner enjoyed by all…...it was a Merry Christmas.

EL D got some new toys (one of which was ripped up before he even got the others unwrapped). He was busy opening his presents at the same time we opened ours so we didn't have toworry about him stealing presents.
